The Department of Geography & Geoinformatics is proud to announce that one of its esteemed faculty member, Dr. Sana Arshad, has been awarded the highly competitive Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND Charleston Postdoctoral Fellowship at Charles University, Czech Republic.
This internationally recognized fellowship is considered among the most prestigious research opportunities in Europe. Out of 48 research proposals submitted from around the world, only 10 candidates were selected, highlighting the exceptional merit of Dr. Arshad’s achievement. Dr. Arshad will join the Department of Applied Geoinformatics and Cartography at Charles University, where she will collaborate with leading researchers and contribute to cutting-edge advancements in geospatial science within a dynamic international academic environment.

Today, a team from the DREAMS Project (Bahawalpur)—in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), UNICEF, and the Bahawalpur Waste Management Company (BWMC)—conducted an awareness session to promote modern solid waste management practices in the city.
Through community awareness campaigns, citizens were encouraged to adopt two-bin waste segregation: 🟦 Blue bins for dry waste and 🟩 Green bins for wet waste. This initiative aims to foster a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Bahawalpur.
Ms. Noreena Rajpoot, a proud alumna of the Department of Geography & Geoinformatics, served as the resource person, along with project officers, sharing valuable insights and practical guidance during the activity.
The department appreciates the efforts of the DREAMS Project team and its partners for advancing sustainable urban environmental practices.
