*University College of Art and Design Celebrates Independence Day Through Short Film Competition*
The University College of Art and Design (UCAD), The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, celebrated Pakistan’s Independence Day with a creative and inspiring short film competition. The event provided students with an opportunity to express their love for Pakistan through the powerful medium of moving images.
The event was organized under the leadership of Principal Dr. Farhana Altaf Qureshi, whose vision and support provided students with a professional platform to showcase their creative potential and express their perspectives on Pakistan’s cultural heritage, national identity, social values, and spirit of patriotism.
The Chief Guest was Prof. Muhammad Shahzad Rana, former Chairman, Department of Media & Communication Studies, and a renowned radio producer. The competition was judged by Dr. Farhan Mushtaq, Producer at Pakistan Television Lahore (PTV), his team, and Prof. Shahzad Rana. The distinguished judges carefully reviewed and screened the students’ video productions, appreciating their creativity, storytelling, visual expression, and meaningful engagement with the theme of Pakistan.
The students presented a diverse collection of short films reflecting their love for Pakistan and their emotional connection with the country. Through creative storytelling, imagery, music, and visual narratives, they explored different dimensions of Pakistani identity, highlighting the country’s cultural richness, traditions, landscapes, people, and hopes for the future.
The distinguished judging panel appreciated the enthusiasm and originality demonstrated by the participating students and emphasized the importance of encouraging young filmmakers and visual artists to develop their storytelling skills.
The event was also graced by Mr. Ghulam Sarwar Shah, former Commissioner (FBR); Malik Ghulam Qadir Wagi; Prof. Muazam Durrani; and Sajad Pervaiz.
Following the competition, certificates were distributed among the participating and winning students by the distinguished guests and judging panel in recognition of their creative efforts and contribution to the Independence Day celebrations.
The event was curated by Fawad Ahmed and Muhammad Shafeeq, whose dedicated efforts helped bring together the students’ video works and create an engaging platform for creative exchange and appreciation.
Principal Dr. Farhana Altaf Qureshi expressed her gratitude to all the distinguished guests for honoring the event with their presence. She extended special thanks to the PTV Lahore team for visiting UCAD, participating in the judging process, and encouraging the students through their valuable professional insights and appreciation.
