ORIC IUB Providing Financial Support for RIC

ORIC IUB is offering financial support to strengthen Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (RIC) at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Pakistan This initiative aims to facilitate impactful research, industry collaborations, and commercialization opportunities.

Official Visit of PARB Representative to ORIC IUB for Project Evaluation

On March 19, 2025, Dr. Syed Nadeem Afzal Jaffery, Deputy Director/Research Officer (M&E) at the Punjab Agricultural Research Board (PARB), visited The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB). Hosted by ORIC IUB, the visit focused on the monitoring and evaluation of PARB-funded research projects, including those led by Dr. Muhammad Naeem Tahir, Department of Livestock Management, Dr. Muhammad Ehsan and Dr. Muhammad Rashid, Department of Parasitology.

During the evaluation, the PARB representative expressed satisfaction with the progress of the projects, commended the research teams for their efforts, and provided constructive recommendations to enhance project ex*****on.

ORIC IUB played a pivotal role in facilitating the visit, ensuring seamless coordination between the Principal Investigators (P*s) and PARB. The engagement was effectively managed under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif, Director ORIC, with the active involvement of Mr. Abdul Moeed Abid, Additional Director ORIC and Mr. Hafiz Faizan Ahmad, Assistant Manager Research.

The visit concluded with PARB acknowledging ORIC IUB’s exceptional support and coordination. It was emphasized that future collaborations would be strengthened, utilizing ORIC’s platform for executing PARB initiatives within the university.

This visit aligns with ORIC’s KPI: Innovation and Commercialization – Number of Visits by Representatives of Industry or Community Members Regarding Potential Research Subjects.

MEETING WITH PRESIDENT BCCI

*ORIC Team Engaged in Collaborative Dialogue with AS&RB and QEC*

In a significant step towards fostering collaborative synergy within the academic community of IUB, the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) held a pivotal meeting on July 10, 2024, with Prof. Dr. Asif Naveed Ranjha, the Director, AS&RB and his team along with the representatives from the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of IUB.

This gathering, convened with the shared objective of advancing mutual interests, marked a crucial moment in promoting research excellence and innovation & Commercialization.

The meeting, characterized by a spirit of open dialogue and strategic planning, focused on several KP*s and areas of mutual interest.

Central to the discussions were initiatives aimed at enhancing research standards, fostering innovation, and shifting the research paradigm from publication to research productivity to meet emerging trends in higher education.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif, the Director ORIC, emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving impactful research outcomes by sensitizing the IUB faculty to put efforts in the areas shared ahead.

Key topics addressed during the session included:

Improve Research Excellence by strategies to bolster research capabilities and facilitate IUB faculty to enhance research proposal submission ratio for funding, to enhance policy advocacy and civic engagement practices.

Improve Innovation & Commercialization by organizing annual theses displays, motivating the researcher to protect the protectable Intellectual Property from research.

During the session, the performance evaluation proforma for TTS and BPS faculty was also discussed and it was agreed by all that it is worth needed to update the evaluation ingredients of proforma inline with the HEIs KP*s to have more impactful research.

Looking ahead, the outcomes of this meeting are set to pave the way for collaborative efforts by conducting the sessions with Faculties

Throwback to an unforgettable day at ZEST - where students embarked on a journey of discovery, creativity, and entrepreneurial inspiration at the Zindgi Prize Start-Up Generation Camp, organized by ORIC!

**Fostering Innovation:**

Promoting Bone Health with Free DEXA Scan & Rehabilitation Camp

The Department of Physical Therapy, in collaboration with ORIC IUB and Searl Pharma, spearheaded a transformative initiative to enhance bone health awareness and mitigate the risks of osteoporosis, osteopenia, and fractures.

Free DEXA Scan: Offering Bone Mineral Density (BMD) testing, the event provided valuable insights into bone health status, aiding in the early detection and management of osteoporosis, thus reducing fracture risks.

Addressing a diverse range of health concerns, individuals with neurological, musculoskeletal, orthopedic, cardiovascular, women's health, and pediatric disorders received complimentary check-ups and consultations.

This initiative not only empowered individuals to take proactive steps towards their health but also aimed to alleviate the strain on healthcare facilities and the economy by preventing potential fractures.

Dr. Ayesha Bashir, Head of the Department of Physical Therapy, extended appreciation to her dedicated team, collaborators, including Dr. Afifa Latif, Dr. Nasir Mehmood, ORIC, Searl Pharma, and the enthusiastic students for their unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of health and wellness within the community.
