Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Library Library presents welcoming atmosphere for the students & faculty.

The SDGs Collaboration Centre and Fatima Jinnah Women Leadership Centre, in collaboration with Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Library, organized a seminar to honor Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, the poet-philosopher and visionary leader.

Speakers, including Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Prof. Dr. Salman Bin Naeem, Dr. Mariam Abbas Soharwardi, and Dr. Irfan Tahir, highlighted Iqbal’s philosophy of Khudi (selfhood), his vision for youth, education, and social progress, and his enduring message of patriotism. They emphasized his call for courage, creativity, and ethical leadership to empower students to address challenges like poverty, inequality, patriotism and social injustice.

Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti said:
"Iqbal’s philosophy inspires self-discovery, innovation, and purposeful action. His vision encourages youth to learn, lead, serve the nation, and create a society that is just, inclusive, and sustainable."

The seminar underscored Iqbal’s emphasis on education, youth leadership, innovation, women’s empowerment, aligning with SDGs to foster a more equitable and progressive society.

Farewell Ceremony Honoring Dedicated Library Staff Members

The Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Library of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur organized a heartfelt farewell ceremony to honour six devoted members of the library team for their decades of exemplary and dedicated service.

The ceremony paid tribute to the following esteemed staff members:
• Mr. Hussain Ahmad – 41 years of service
• Qazi Muhammad Akbar – 37 years of service
• Mr. Muhammad Qasim – 36 years of service
• Mr. Muhammad Rafique – 35 years of service
• Mr. Muhammad Rafique Zafar – 30 years of service
• Mr. Faiz Muhammad (Late) – 29 years of service

The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Vice Chancellor of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, who attended as the Chief Guest. The programme commenced with an introductory address by Dr. Irfan Hussain Tahir, Chief Librarian, who warmly acknowledged the retirees’ outstanding contributions, unwavering dedication, and professional excellence in serving the library over the years.

In his address, the Vice Chancellor lauded the retirees for their long-standing commitment, diligence, and integrity. He highlighted their invaluable role in supporting academic and research activities, emphasizing that their service has left an indelible mark on the university’s intellectual community.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of shields and gifts, accompanied by heartfelt wishes for the retirees’ continued good health, peace, and happiness in the years ahead.

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur proudly pays tribute to these distinguished individuals whose unwavering service has been a pillar of strength for the Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Library and an inspiration for their colleagues and successors.

A ceremony was held to inaugurate a special book corner in the library of the Faculty of Law Islamia University of Bahawalpur at Abbasia Campus. Renowned jurist Mian Saadat Ali Nadeem has donated 700 law books for this book corner and this book corner has been named after him. Honorable Justice Ahmad Nadeem Arshad Lahore High Court Lahore was the chief guest at the ceremony. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Kamran said on this occasion that steps are being taken to provide quality education and practical training in the Department of Law. Recently, the four-year LLB program has been restored. The faculty building has been expanded with new classrooms and faculty rooms. He thanked Justice Ahmad Nadeem Arshad for his special presence at the ceremony. Dean Faculty of Law Professor Dr. Rao Imran Habib, renowned gynecologist Professor Dr. Sohail Mahmood Chaudhry, Mian Saadat Ali Nadeem Waleed Arshad, Dr. Usman Mahmood, faculty members Mian Arif Saeed, Muhammad Muneeb Raza, Humaira Nawaz, Dr. Hassan Sial, and students of the Law Students Club were present in large numbers.

نمائش کتب سیرت النبی ﷺ از قومی و بین الاقوامی سیرت نگاران کا وائس چانسلر، انجینئرپروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران نے سر صادق محمد خاں لائبریری میں افتتاح کیا اور فرمایا کہ سیرت النبیﷺ کا ایسا خوبصورت، بےمثال، مقدس ذخیرہ امت مسلمہ کے پاس موجود ہے جو کہ بڑی سعادت کی بات ہے، ضرورت صرف اس بات کی ہے کہ عملی زندگی کو اس سےخوب مزین و منور کیا جائے ،بلاشبہ عصر حاضر کے مسائل کا حل صرف نبی کریم ﷺ کی اطاعت و فرمانبرداری میں پنہاں ہے۔
پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روبینہ بھٹی ڈین فیکلٹی آف سوشل سائنسز نے کہا کہ سیرت چیئر کی خدمات طلبہ و اساتذہ کرام کے لیے مثالی ہیں ۔
پروفیسرڈاکٹر شیخ شفیق الرحمن، ڈین فیکلٹی آف اسلامک اینڈ عریبک سٹڈیز نے فیکلٹی کےاساتذہ کرام اور طلبہ کی بھر پور شرکت کا شکریہ ادا کیا۔
ڈائریکٹر سیرت چیئر پروفیسرڈاکٹر حافظ شفیق الرحمن نے سیرت النبی ﷺ سے متعلق مختلف اہم کتب اور تحقیقی مقالات کا مختصر تعارف پیش کیا۔
ڈاکٹر عرفان حسین طاہر، چیف لائبریرین، سر صادق محمد خاں لائبریری نے کہا کہ ہمارے لیے سعادت کی بات ہے کہ اس طرح کے خوبصورت پروگرام کے انعقاد کا موقع ملا۔
اس میں ڈاکٹر شہزاد احمد خالد، ڈائریکٹر تعلقات عامہ، ڈاکٹر محمد خالد شیخ سیکرٹری برائے وائس چانسلر، ڈاکٹر غلام حیدر مگھرانہ، چیئرمین شعبہ حدیث، ڈاکٹرمحمد اکرم ازہری، ایسوسی ایٹ پروفیسرشعبہ عربی، ڈاکٹر حافظ عزیز الرحمن، انچارج شعبہ ٹرانسلیشن سٹڈیزاورمختلف شعبوں کے اساتذہ اور طلبہ کرام کی کثیر تعدادنے شرکت فرمائی۔
خوش آئند بات یہ ہے کہ ڈاکٹر محمد سعیدشیخ، چیئرمین شعبہ فقہ اینڈ شریعہ نے حجم میں سب سے چھوٹی اور معلومات میں باکمال کتاب (آخری نبی ﷺ) کا ہدیہ سیرت چیئر کے لیے پیش کیا ۔اس نمائش میں سیرت النبیﷺ پر مشتمل اردو، عربی اور انگلش کتب کا اہم ذخیرہ پیش کیا گیا جو کہ اخلاق ، معیشت ،معاشرت، سیاست اورعصر حاضر کے مختلف چیلنجز سے نمٹنے سے متعلق تھا۔
آخر میں ڈین فیکلٹی آف اسلامک اینڈ عریبک سٹڈیز نے چیف لائبریرین کا تہہ دل سے شکریہ ادا کیا کہ انہوں نے اس نمائش کے انعقاد میں اہم کردار ادا کیا اور ڈائریکٹر سیرت چیئر نے سیرت کے کام کو آگے بڑھانے کے لیے ان کی نیک خواہشات کا خیر مقدم کیا۔

The Department of Information Management, Faculty of Social Sciences, organized a seminar on September 15, 2025, at the Video Conference Room, Main Auditorium, Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus, IUB. The theme of the seminar was “Transforming Libraries through Cloud Technology for Virtual Users.”

The seminar was chaired by Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences. The distinguished panel of experts included Dr. Muhammad Ijaz Miraj, Chief Librarian, University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore; Mr. Habib Akhter Jaffari, Project Director, PASTIC, Islamabad; Prof. Dr. Salman Bin Naeem, Chairman of the Department; Dr. Shakeel Ahmad Khan, Associate Professor; Dr. Aamir Rasoul, Assistant Professor; and Dr. Irfan Tahir, Chief Librarian, Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Library, IUB.

The experts discussed the emerging opportunities for libraries to sustain and thrive in the virtual environment. They emphasized the adoption of KOHA Cloud software and the transition of libraries towards cloud-based services to enhance accessibility and efficiency.

In her concluding remarks, Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti stressed the importance of developing a strong network among Pakistani libraries for resource sharing, service integration, and professional collaboration. She highlighted that such initiatives are essential to strengthen the role of libraries in the digital age.

The seminar was well attended by faculty members, library professionals, and students, who actively participated in the discussions.

Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Library Marks Independence Day with Special Documentary Screening

Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Library, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, organized a special Independence Day documentary screening at the Jinnah Corner. The program carried the theme “More than a festival — a living moment of Truth, Unity, and National Character.”

The documentary showcased the struggles, sacrifices, and vision of Pakistan’s founders, covering the freedom movement and the nation’s creation. The event drew a large audience of students and faculty, aiming to inspire national pride and a sense of responsibility among the youth.

Distinguished guests included Prof. Dr. Salman Bin Naeem (Head, Department of Information Management), Dr. Mah-e-Bushra, Dr. M. Younas, Dr. Maryam Abbas, and Mr. Amir Rasul. Chief Librarian Mr. Irfan Hussain Tahir welcomed the attendees and extended a special greeting to the chief guest, Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

In her address, Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti urged students to contribute to the country’s progress through academic excellence and research. The Chief Librarian also reflected on the vision behind the Pakistan Movement. Commemorating Pakistan’s Independence Day & International Youth Day
On August 12, 2025, the Department of Information Management, Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Library, and Fatima Jinnah Women Leadership Center at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) jointly organized a seminar to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day and International Youth Day. The event took place at Jinnah Corner, Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Library, and was attended by students, faculty members, and university staff.
The seminar began with an opening address by the moderator, Ms. Naila Shams ul Haq, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the significance of the event.
Several distinguished speakers shared their insights during the seminar, including Mr. Irfan Hussain Tahir (Chief Librarian), Hafiz Aamir Rasul (Assistant Professor, Department of Information Management), Dr. Muhammad Younus (Associate Professor, Department of Information Management), Dr. Mariam Abbas Sohrwardi (Associate Professor, Department of Economics) and Dr. Mah-e-Bushra Asghar (Associate Professor, Department of Information Management). The panel also featured Muhammad Salim (Deputy Librarian), Ali Zulqarnain (Deputy Librarian), who contributed their perspectives on library sciences and educational development.
Prof. Salman Bin Naeem delivered the, focusing on the timeless principles of "Unity, Faith, and Discipline" as laid out by the founder of Pakistan. He urged the youth to embrace these values to contribute meaningfully to the country’s progress.
The chief guest of the event, Prof. Rubina Bhatti, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, delivered an inspiring address, reiterating Quaid-e-Azam’s message to the youth. She emphasized that young people must take responsibility for the nation’s future by upholding integrity, hard work, and patriotism. She emphasized the role of youth in nation-building and the importance of reflecting on Quaid-e-Azam’s vision for Pakistan.
The seminar successfully fostered a sense of patriotism and motivation among attendees, leaving them with a renewed determination to contribute positively to Pakistan’s development.
