MNFS&R has confirmed a recent outbreak of "lumpy skin disease" in different areas of Pakistan.
Sindh Livestock Director-General Dr Nazeer Kolhoro has said this is the first outbreak in Pakistan.
"We don't have vaccines as it was never reported before," he added.

Definition:
Lumpy skin disease is a viral infection of cattle. Originally found in Africa, it has also spread to countries in the Middle East, Asia, and Eastern Europe.
Clinical signs :
1) fever
2) lacrimation
3)hypersalivation
4)characteristic skin nodules

Routes of transmission :
1) infected saliva
2) contact
3)blood sucking insects
4)ticks
*Prevention and control* :
1) isolation of the infected animal
2) control the movement of the animals

Dr. Zahid Kamran, Chairman Department of Animal Nutrition, FV&AS has been appointed as the Technical Member (Punjab) of the Camel Association of Pakistan (CAP). Similarly, Mr. Mashhood Bhatti, a student of BS Animal Science has been elected as the member of CAP cabinet 2022-24 on student seat. Dean FV&AS, Professor Dr. Muhammad Khalid Mansoor has congratulated, and appreciated the efforts of Dr. Zahid Kamran and Dr. Muhammad Yousaf, Assistant Professor Animal Nutrition, for making a strong representation of FV&AS, IUB in the CAP.
