COMSATS Character Building Society is organizing Palestine Youth Conference on 4th June 2024 (Tuesday), 10:30 AM at Haroon Rasheed Auditorium.

R.E.D International has offered its capacity building initiative, "Build, Entrepreneurship Skill Training" - BEST that will focus on capacitating aspiring Entrepreneurs and incubates in KP to scale up their business. R.E.D under the initiative of BEST program, will train, mentor and will provide exposure to the entrepreneurial Alumni & Students of CUI Abbottabad on best national & international Entrepreneurial practices through its national & international experts.

The 3 days training of our final semester students and alumni will be conducted by Team of R.E.D International from Wednesday 29th of May 2024 evening till Saturday 1st of June 2024 evening. The timings of trainig will be 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in Language Lab.


The training is free of cost for our 50 to 60 students.

One-Day Seminar on 'Road Map for Climate Action On May 20, 2024, the Department of Environmental Sciences organized a one-day seminar i.e., 'RoadMap for Climate Action,' in collaboration with Pak US Alumni Network (PUAN). Prof. Dr. Faridullah (Chairman/HoD Dept. Env. Sci.) delivered a welcome speech introducing the event on climate change. The event featured a range of activities, including poster and model competitions, technical speeches, and expert panel discussions; all aimed at raising awareness about human activities related to climate change and their consequences. The event was concluded with a ‘tree plantation’ activity.
Expert speakers from various fields (Mr. Umer Swati - WSSC Abbottabad, Dr. Huma Hayat - WWF Abbottabad, Dr. Ammara Abbasi - GPGC Mandian Abbottabad, Dr. Muhammad Fawad - University of Haripur) shared invaluable insights on the importance of sustainable and healthy climate practices. The seminar provided a platform for engaging in vital discussions, hearing from knowledgeable speakers, and participating in interactive sessions focusing on critical environmental and climate change issues. The event was concluded with a ‘Thanks-note’ by Prof. Dr. Imtiaz A. Khan (Director CUI-Abbottabad), summarizing the discussions and ideas deliberated during the seminar.

We are pleased to share that the Corporate Advisory Board (CAB) of the Department of Management Sciences convened on May 9, 2024, at the Library Video Conference Room, COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus. This important meeting brought together esteemed professionals and industry leaders to discuss and strategize on key academic and industry-related topics. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Imran Khan, head Department of Management Sciences.
The meeting was graced by the presence of notable attendees:
1. Mr. Haji Iftikhar: Renowned industrialist, former Vice President of FPCCI, and former President of the Abbottabad Chamber of Commerce.
2. Mr. Wahid Siraj Mir: Distinguished educationist, Principal of Modernage Public School & College, and Director of EQUIP Pakistan.
3. Dr. Mobashar Sadik, CEO of the Institute of Financial Markets Pakistan, joined us online via MS Teams.
4. Mr. Noor Khan: Our esteemed alumnus and CEO & Director of EXPO Globe International Private Limited, who also participated online via MS Teams.
5. Despite the nine-hour time difference between Pakistan and the US, Mr. Kalim Ullah Jan (Senior Vice President – Treasurer Accounting Department, Ion Bank, US) contributed his valuable insights via email.
The key discussion points of the Corporate Advisory Board meeting included a thorough evaluation of the introductory course content for BS(BA) students to ensure alignment with industry standards, the exploration of new collaboration opportunities between the department and industry partners, strategies to address the ongoing energy crisis with a focus on sustainable solar energy solutions, and plans for organizing a national-level seminar to analyze and discuss the implications of the upcoming budget.

We're thrilled to share the incredible achievements of our Chemistry Department at CUI Abbottabad! The Material Chemistry Group, led by Dr. Huma Ajab (Tenured Associate Professor), has reached a significant milestone.

Dr. Huma's research group recently attended the 2nd International Conference on Modern Technologies in Material and Mechanical Engineering (MTME 2024) at Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering and Technology, Topi. Their research paper and poster were selected for presentation among 70 submissions from national and international research groups.

We are proud to announce that their research paper won the Best Paper award in the material category! The paper, titled “Development in Heavy Metal Ions Detection: Antimony-Hydroxyapatite Modified Electrodes Coupled with Square Wave Anodic Stripping Voltammetry,” showcases the hard work and innovative thinking of Dr. Huma and her MS fellows, Muhammad Umar Draz, Amina, and Saad Ullah Bhatti.

This achievement is a testament to their dedication and will surely inspire our students to pursue excellence in material chemistry. It's a proud moment for COMSATS University Islamabad and a significant milestone for the Material Chemistry Group. 👏🔬🥇

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of Rukhshanda Jabeen's PhD in Development Studies! Her thesis titled 'Challenges and Opportunities of Participatory Forest Management Practices in Siran Forest Valley, Pakistan' delved deep into the dynamics of community involvement in forest management, shedding light on both the triumphs and trials of joint forest management (JFM) initiatives. She was supervised by Associate Professor (tenured) Dr. Noor Elahi.
Rukhshanda's research journey encapsulated years of dedicated work, encompassing a thorough exploration of the participation levels of communities in forest management, the equitable distribution of benefits, and the identification of challenges and opportunities within the Siran Forest division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Through meticulous data collection and analysis methodologies, Rukhshanda engaged with diverse stakeholders, unraveling insights that underscored the vital role of collaborative efforts in sustaining forest resources and enhancing livelihoods.
Her findings illuminated the significant impact of JFM on forest conservation, livelihood opportunities, and community empowerment. Yet, they also highlighted areas for improvement, particularly in ensuring inclusive decision-making processes and addressing gender disparities in participation.
As Rukhshanda embarks on the next chapter of her journey, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes! May her passion for sustainable development continue to inspire positive change, shaping a brighter future for communities and ecosystems alike.
