[On the recently circulating threat against a public secondary school in Dipolog City]

A threatening message circulating through social media has been reported and is currently under verification and investigation by the appropriate authorities. As a precautionary measure, all personnel are directed to remain vigilant, immediately report suspicious behavior, strictly observe visitor and access control procedures, and refrain from sharing unverified information that may cause unnecessary panic. Safety and security measures are being coordinated with concerned agencies.

If you see a threat online, don't be the first to share it. Be the first to report it. Prevention starts with responsible action, not viral circulation.

The Procurement Service–DBM reminds merchants and the general public that PhilGEPS RED Membership registration is completely 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗚𝗘. Applicants may register directly through the official PhilGEPS website at www.philgeps.gov.ph

The public is strongly advised to avoid engaging with individuals, social media pages, or entities offering paid assistance or “processing services for PhilGEPS registration. Engaging with unauthorized providers may expose users to misrepresentation or inaccurate information, unnecessary or excessive fees, and unauthorized use or potential misuse of personal or business information.

The unauthorized third-party registration is considered “fixing,” which is strictly prohibited under the law. Violators may be held criminally liable and subject to the corresponding penalties under Republic Act No. 11032, or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.

MURPHY'S LAW

Many managers assume that if a plan looks good on paper, everything will proceed smoothly. Reality often has other ideas. Projects encounter delays. Equipment breaks down. Key personnel become unavailable. Critical information arrives late. Unexpected problems emerge at the worst possible time.

The symptoms are familiar:
1. The one document you need is missing.
2. The key employee is absent during a crisis.
3. The system crashes on the busiest day.
4. Small overlooked issues become major problems.
5. Risks that nobody prepared for suddenly become reality.

This phenomenon is popularly known as 'Murphy's Law:
"Anything that can go wrong will go wrong." The lesson is not to become pessimistic. The lesson is to prepare.

Effective managers do not merely create plans. They anticipate risks, build contingencies, develop alternatives, and prepare for the unexpected. They understand that success is not achieved by hoping that nothing goes wrong, but by being ready when something does.

THE ABILENE PARADOX

Imagine a management team discussing a costly new project. The finance officer thinks it is too expensive. The operations manager believes the timing is wrong. The HR officer worries that employees are already overloaded. Yet nobody speaks up.

Each person assumes that everyone else supports the project and does not want to be the lone dissenter. The project is approved.

Months later, the project fails. During the review, everyone discovers the same thing:
1. Nobody really supported the project.
2. Nobody expressed their concerns.
3. Everyone assumed others wanted it.

The Abilene Paradox teaches us that many bad decisions are not caused by conflict. They are caused by the absence of honest communication.

Watch for these warning signs:
1. Important decisions receive instant agreement.
2. Team members remain silent despite reservations.
3. Complaints emerge only after the meeting.
4. People hesitate to challenge the majority.
5. Decisions move forward despite private doubts.

Good leaders do not simply seek agreement. They encourage honest discussion and make it safe for people to disagree.

📣JUST IN: DepEd issues Guidelines on the Grant of Wellness Leave

The Department of Education (DepEd) has released the DepEd Order No. 002, s. 2026 – Guidelines on the Grant of Wellness Leave for the Department of Education Personnel.

All eligible DepEd employees, including teachers and directly engaged Contract of Service (COS) and Job Order (JO) personnel, can avail themselves of the Wellness Leave (WL) for mental health care, physical activities, or a general break for a maximum of five (5) days, pursuant to Civil Service Commission (CSC) Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 01, s. 2026.

🌱 Ultimately, this policy acknowledges the critical role of mental health and well-being, providing DepEd personnel with the necessary flexibility to prioritize self-care without exhausting their existing leave credits.
