Computer Engineering students once again demonstrated excellence and innovation as they brought pride to the institution during the 1st ICpEP.SE National Digital Olympiads 2026, a nationwide online competition held from March 25โ€“31, 2026.

Carrying the theme โ€œGo Beyond!โ€, the Digital Olympiads provided a platform for Computer Engineering students across the country to showcase their creativity, technical competence, and problem-solving abilities through various technology-driven competitions. Unlike the traditional face-to-face CPE Challenge, the event introduced a fully online and self-paced format, allowing broader participation while maintaining a high standard of competition and innovation.

Among the outstanding participants was Jullie Marie R. Ordaniza, who secured 2nd Place in the Tech Photography category through her exceptional creativity and visual storytelling skills.

Another remarkable achievement was earned by the team composed of Bianca Camille I. Divinagracia, Louise Klyde Caloyloy, Giel V. Andales, and John Kerby Tapic, who garnered 2nd Place in the Web Design category for demonstrating technical proficiency, creativity, and effective digital presentation.

Meanwhile, Danleeroy B. Quitiol advanced as a Finalist in the Digital Arts category, showcasing artistic innovation and digital creativity.

In the Elevator Pitch category, Euwan Tyrone B. Prias and Aizzah Arabelle B. Javelosa were recognized as Finalists for presenting their ideas with confidence, clarity, and technical relevance.

The achievements of these students reflect the growing competence, passion, and determination of future Computer Engineers in adapting to the demands of the digital age. Their success stands as a testament to the institutionโ€™s commitment to fostering innovation, excellence, and globally competitive talents in the field of technology.

Adding to the growing list of achievements of the Department of Computer Engineering, Team E-Proctor secured another remarkable victory after being hailed as Champion for Oral Presentation โ€“ Session B during the 2026 College of Engineering Colloquium with the theme โ€œThe New Engineering Innovation: Where Intelligent Design Meets Sustainable Solutions,โ€ held on April 23, 2026, at the COE AVR, Western Mindanao State University.

The winning team is composed of Denver J. Alas, Doudenix A. Andrade, Mark Axel V. Berigundo, Neil Jude C. Dela Cruz, and Aisha A. Sua, who showcased exceptional research capability, confidence in delivery, and innovative thinking throughout the competition. Their presentation demonstrated the departmentโ€™s continued commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and the development of future-ready engineers.

The team extends their sincere gratitude to the Department Head, Engr. Gajil J. Santos, for his continued support, and to their Research Adviser, Engr. Ferdinand S. Guardo, for his guidance throughout the research process.

Last April 16, 2026, at the WMSU Covered Court, ENGBENSYON 2026, the annual and most anticipated event of the Department of Computer Engineering was successfully conducted, gathering students, faculty members, and distinguished guests in a celebration of innovation and excellence. The program commenced with opening rites, followed by the Welcome Message of Engr. Gajil J. Santos, Department Head of Computer Engineering, and the Inspirational Message delivered by Dr. Marlon C. Grande, Dean of the College of Engineering.

The event was graced by distinguished judges across various categories, such as on Project and Design (PD) and Technopreneurship. For Project Design, the panel was composed of Dr. Marvin A. Maulion, Director of the Research Centers Operation Office (RCOO) and Head of the Research Project Development Unit (RPDU) of Western Mindanao State University, together with Dr. Minah P. Quiรฑal, Dean of the College of Computer Science of Southern City Colleges. In Technopreneurship, the judges were Engr. Jonna Louh P. Daod, Trade Industry Development Specialist from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Engr. Marvic A. Lines from the College of Computing Studies, and Engr. Maria Marjorie J. Pascual, Senior Trade Industry Development Specialist from DTI.

Also serving as evaluators were Engr. Earl Humprey M. Bantug, Engr. Jeric Cesar A. Enriquez, and Engr. Franclein L. Francisco for Design Thinking and Innovation, Engr. Heidee S. Cuevas, Engr. Ceed Jezreel B. Lorenzo, and Engr. Odon A. Maravillas Jr. for AI & Electronics, Ms. Lucy Felix-Sadiwa, Mr. Jayson A. Catadman, and Mr. Anthony T. Cartagena for Software Development, and Engr. Marjorie A. Rojas and Engr. Ahmad R. Ibno for Software Design.

Their expertise and insights significantly contributed to the success of the event, reinforcing ENGBENSYON 2026 as a platform for excellence, innovation, and future-ready technological advancement.

The team SIKLAB, a group of dedicated Computer Engineering students composed of 3rd years and 4th year members, namely Aizzah Arabelle B. Javelosa, Bianca Camille I. Divinagracia, Doudenix A. Andrade, Euwan Tyrone B. Prias, and Jazmine Elaiza L. Luis were hailed as the Overall Grand Winner of the College of Engineering Technopreneurship Pitching Competition 2026 with the theme โ€œFrom Idea to Impact: Turning Vision into Solutions that Matter,โ€ held on April 21, 2026, at the Western Mindanao State University, College of Engineering AVR.

This achievement marks a historic milestone for the Computer Engineering Department, as this was the first time the department participated in the annual Technopreneurship Pitching Competition since 2021. Despite being first-time participants, Team SIKLAB demonstrated outstanding innovation, collaboration, and determination, successfully presenting a solution that stood out among the competing teams.

Their victory reflects the growing capability of Computer Engineering students to transform ideas into practical and impactful solutions, showcasing not only technical competence but also an entrepreneurial mindset and teamwork. The accomplishment serves as an inspiration to fellow students to pursue innovation, take initiative, and contribute meaningful solutions to real-world challenges.

The team also extends their sincere appreciation for the support of their Department Head, Engr. Gajil J. Santos, whose leadership made their participation possible. They are equally grateful for the encouragement and support of their Technopreneurship Adviser, Engr. Nadine Evangelista, as well as the guidance and mentorship of the faculty members who continuously supported them throughout their preparation and presentation.
