EMERGENCY RESPONSE TRAINING AND FIRE PREVENTION SEMINAR

Today, June 20, 2026, the ICAS Mercedes community participated in an Emergency Response Training and Fire Prevention Seminar to strengthen preparedness, safety awareness, and emergency response skills.

Through this meaningful activity, participants gained valuable knowledge on fire prevention, proper emergency procedures, and the importance of staying calm and ready during unexpected situations.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to BFP R9 Mercedes Fire Sub-Station for sharing their expertise and dedication in promoting safety and preparedness within our community.

📚 Empowering Student Leaders Through Learning! 💙

Immaculate Conception Archdiocesan School of Mercedes (ICAS Mercedes), together with Ms. Thrisha Laput, Elementary SLG Adviser, and Mr. Francis Vic T. Luna, High School SSLG Adviser, proudly participated in the Learners' Engagement Session organized by the Zamboanga Regional Medical Center (ZRMC)
in celebration of National Safe Kids' Week.

Represented by our Supreme Learner Government (SLG) and Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) officers from the Elementary and High School Departments, the activity provided valuable learning experiences on online safety, disaster preparedness, child protection, smoking prevention, and early intervention for children at risk.

This meaningful engagement has equipped our young leaders with knowledge and skills that they can share with their fellow learners, fostering a safer, healthier, and more responsible school community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Zamboanga Regional Medical Center for this meaningful initiative and for empowering our student leaders to become advocates of safety, awareness, and responsible citizenship.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to SK Mercedes for providing safe and hassle-free transportation for our student leaders through the SK Mercedes Free Wheels initiative!

Safety and Resilience at ICAS Mercedes

June 8, 2026 marked the opening of School Year 2026–2027 at ICAS Mercedes. Our learners returned with bright smiles and eager hearts, ready to begin a new academic journey. From Preschool (Junior Nursery, Senior Nursery, and Kindergarten), Elementary (Grades 1–6), to Junior High School (Grades 7–10), the campus was filled with excitement and enthusiasm.

The day started with a flag ceremony and school orientation, followed by a trivia activity for the upcoming 128th Philippine Independence Day celebration and an energetic Hataw presentation by our teachers.

An unexpected earthquake later challenged our morning, leading to the suspension of classes as a precautionary measure. Despite the situation, students, teachers, staff, and parents remained calm, cooperative, and united, following safety protocols to ensure everyone's well-being.

It was not only the start of a new school year but also a testament to the preparedness, resilience, and strong sense of community that define ICAS Mercedes.

We thank our faculty, parents, and learners for their cooperation and composure.

In consideration of the recent earthquake and its possible aftereffects, classes and office work at ICAS Mercedes are suspended. To ensure the safety and well-being of all students, personnel, and stakeholders, the official opening of classes has been moved to June 15, 2026.

This adjustment will allow sufficient time for the assessment of school facilities and the implementation of necessary safety measures.
