A commendable undergraduate thesis by Jasmine E. Catajoy and Jessrille A. Peralta titled โAdvancing Knowledge Diplomacy: The Role of the Global Paths Internationalization Office of the Ateneo de Zamboanga Universityโ offers a timely and valuable contribution to the Universityโs internationalization efforts.
This research carefully documents the establishment, mandates, and programs of the Global Paths Internationalization Office, articulating how the University charts meaningful global pathways through partnerships, mobility, and knowledge exchange. By framing these initiatives within the lens of knowledge diplomacy, the study highlights how internationalization is not merely about presence across borders, but about fostering collaboration, mutual learning, and shared growth among institutions and communities worldwide.
Their work serves as an important reference for understanding the vision, direction, and impact of the office as it advances AdZUโs mission in the global academic landscape. More importantly, the thesis provides a foundation for future planning, assessment, and innovation in the Universityโs international engagements.
We congratulate Jasmine and Jessrille for this insightful scholarly contribution that supports AdZUโs continuing journey in forming globally engaged persons for and with others.

AJCU-AP Partnership Committee Meeting with The Beijing Center.
Excited about the promising possibilities for collaboration with The Beijing Center for Chinese Studies on Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiatives and future avenues for student mobility and cultural exchange.
About TBC:
The Beijing Center for Chinese Studies (TBC) provides a unique environment for students from all over the world to begin their engagement with China. Our mission is to promote mutual understanding between China and other cultures. What makes us unique is our placement in a long and storied tradition of Jesuit education, one that teaches us that true cultural engagement starts first with friendship.
Matteo Ricci, S.J. (ๅฉ็็ชฆ) came to Beijing in 1601. Similar to TBC students today, he and his companions studied the Chinese language and culture and used that knowledge to engage in the academic life of the day. Like our students today, these people were great adventurers and showed great courage, humility, and respect for what they found here. Ricci found a particularly close friendship with Xu Guangqi (ๅพๅ
ๅฏ), who taught him the Chinese way of life. In turn, Ricci shared his knowledge of the West. We seek to follow in these footsteps as we provide students with the supportive environment to start their own adventures in China.
We achieve our mission by offering an outstanding immersive semester abroad program, short-term programs tailored for your groupโs best initial engagement with China, and a research library with over 27,000 volumes in English used by scholars not only in China, but from around the world. We achieve our mission with TBCโs professional and dedicated staff.
So whether you are a newcomer or an old China hand, the experiences TBC provides will change and challenge the way you think about China and in turn, change your life.

WURI is a global ranking initiative that evaluates universities based not on traditional research metrics, but on how institutions innovate in education, student support, social responsibility, and real-world impact. It recognizes universities that creatively respond to societal needs through transformative programs and practices.
This year marks our first participation in WURI. Ateneo de Zamboanga University submitted five (5) entries across different categories that highlight the Universityโs innovative and mission-driven programs.
Out of these five submissions, three (3) were successfully ranked in their respective categories, among over a thousand entries per category.
Global Ranking: #10 โ A1 Student Support and Engagement
Pan Cada Dia Food Subsidy Program
The Pan Cada Dia Program is a long-standing University initiative that ensures no student goes hungry while pursuing their studies. Recognizing that some students lack the financial means to afford daily meals, this program provides food assistance as a concrete expression of cura personalis and solidarity with those in need.
Global Ranking: #89 โ C3 Curricular Innovation for Future-Readiness
Community Engaged Medical Education (CEME) โ School of Medicine
The Community Engaged Medical Education (CEME) program of the School of Medicine responds directly to the physician shortage in the Zamboanga Peninsula, one of the countryโs most underserved regions.
Through this innovative curriculum, medical students spend nearly 50% of their academic training immersed in rural and underserved communities, collaborating with local leaders, health workers, and residents to identify health concerns and co-develop sustainable solutions. This model strengthens local health systems while forming doctors deeply rooted in community realities.
Global Ranking : #99 โ C6 Inclusive Social Innovation for the Underserved
