Bismillah, wassalatu wassalamu 'ala Rasulillah.

After the first examinations, the MTJM faculty, staff, and Student Council Officers took a little time away from the madrasa for a day of laughter, and good company.

Last Sunday’s 𝘳𝘦𝘩𝘭𝘢 brought everyone together beyond the usual classrooms and activities, a simple day to relax, enjoy the sea, and create memories as one MTJM community.

May Allah preserve the bonds of brotherhood and friendship among us, bless our time together, and continue to put barakah in the journey of MTJM.

BIsmillah, wassalatu wassalamu 'ala Rasulillah.

A new uniform, but the same people, the same classroom, and the same responsibility to nurture the next generation through knowledge and tarbiyyah.

The faculty of Madrasatu Tarbiyyatul Jaelil Muslim now proudly wears their new uniforms, made possible through the generous sponsorship of Hji. Albasar Jasim, who supported the printing of the faculty uniforms.

May Allah reward Hji. Albasar Jasim for his generosity, put barakah in his wealth and affairs, and make this contribution a sadaqah jariyah whose reward continues to reach him in this world and the Hereafter.

May Allah also bless our asatidh, strengthen them in their service, and make their efforts in teaching and tarbiyyah a means of benefit for generations to come.

🕊️ Official Public Statement: Condensed Version

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 18, 2026

ZAMBOANGA CITY, PHILIPPINES — The Ulama Council of Zamboanga Peninsula stands in profound grief and solidarity with the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) community following this morning's tragic shooting campus incident in Barangay Tumaga.

We strictly and unequivocally condemn this senseless violence. The loss of young lives and the violation of a sanctuary of knowledge deeply wound our collective soul. In Islam, preserving human life and respecting schools are foundational duties.

We issue the following urgent calls to our community:

Condolences & Comfort: We pray for the victims, their families, and the traumatized. We also pray for the suspect’s family, who endure their own intense grief; we ask the public to respect their privacy and refrain from misplacing blame.

Community Solidarity: We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the AdZU administration, faculty, students, and the wider Zamboangueño family. We must confront this heartbreak together as one united community.

Heightened Campus Security: We strongly urge all school administrations across the peninsula to immediately enforce strict security protocols, specifically implementing mandatory metal detectors and baggage screening at the entrance of every building.

Responsible Media & Mental Health: We appeal to everyone, especially the youth, to stop sharing graphic videos of the incident. We urge families and schools to strengthen spiritual and mental health support for troubled children before isolation turns into tragedy.

We officially direct all Imams and Khatibs across the Zamboanga Peninsula to dedicate their upcoming Friday Khutbah (sermon) to Islamic guidance on this crisis. Sermons must focus on the prohibition of violence, neighborliness across faiths, and the spiritual duty of protecting our youth.

SIGNED:
The Executive Committee
Ulama Council of Zamboanga Peninsula

Madrasatu Tarbiyyatul Jaelil Muslim (MTJM) Teacher-in-Charge Ust. Abdulwahab Mahlil announced that the madrasa will hold its First Examination for the current academic year on August 1–2, 2026.

In line with exam preparations, the administration designated July 25–26 as review week. MTJM encourages students to use this weekend to review their lessons, organize study materials, and consult with their subject teachers.

As part of its academic system, MTJM conducts two major examinations each academic year to evaluate the students' progress and overall learning throughout the term.

We pray that Allah (SWT) grants all our students clarity of mind, ease, and success in their upcoming examinations. Ameen.

Bismillah, wassalatu wassalamu 'ala Rasulillah.

On June 26, 2026, Sheikh Abdullah Yasin, rahimahullah, the Vice President of the Ulama Council of Zamboanga Peninsula (UCZP), returned to his Creator.

𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵𝗶 𝘄𝗮 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗶𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗵𝗶 𝗿𝗮𝗷𝗶'𝘂𝗻.

The passing of Sheikh Abdullah Yasin, rahimahullah, is an immense loss for the entire region and the wider Muslim community. His lifelong dedication to teaching the deen, guiding the community, and mentoring the mashayikh has left an undeniable mark that will be felt for generations.

The MTJM Administration, faculty, and students mourn the passing of our beloved teacher and leader, and extend our hearts and prayers to his family, his students, and the entire Muslim community of the Zamboanga Peninsula.

Bismillah, wassalatu wassalamu 'ala Rasulillah.

The students of Madrasatu Tarbiyyatil Jaelil Muslim (MTJM) received a massive boost in their daily learning materials following the rollout of the new supply packages across the madrasa.

This distribution is the actual, hands-on result of the recent "Adopt-a-Madrasah II" program. While our previous sessions focused entirely on training our teachers with better classroom and digital tools, this part brings the benefits straight to the students. By putting these essential supplies directly into the hands of our youth, the project ensures that the lessons our teachers learned are backed up by the actual resources the students need for their day-to-day studies.

The MTJM Administration, faculty, and students extend their profound gratitude to Pru Life UK and the Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST) for their steadfast generosity and partnership. This joint effort is a real investment in the future of our students, giving our community the practical support needed to help our children grow.

We pray that Allah rewards everyone who made this project possible, and that these supplies become a source of continuous blessing and progress for our madrasah.
