The BSIT interns have successfully deployed the developed systems for the WMSU Library, thereby transforming idenfitied library services and operations into digital processes. One of the primary goals of the internship program of the IT Department of the College of Computing Studies is to augment and co-facilitate the digital transformation of the university.

The College of Computing Studies headed by Dean Dr. Roderick P. Go, the IT Dept. Head and OJT adviser, Dr. John Ed Augustus Escorial would like to express gratitude to the WMSU Library Officials and staff, led by Dr. Benhur A. Asid, Ma'am Ethel Villanueva, Sir Rej Mallari, and other personnel for their assistance in facilitating student interns and sharing their expertise in efficiently managing various tasks with professionalism.

Lastly, the department is grateful for the support from WMSU Officials, under the leadership of our University President, Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena, and the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Nursia M. Barjose, for granting students the opportunity to gain real-world experience both within and outside the university.

Congratulations to our BSIT alumnus, Mr. Sherard Chris Banquerigo for successfully passing the ICT Proficiency Certification Exam held last November 17, 2023.

The Western Mindanao State University through the Information Technology Department in collaboration with the Department of Extension Services and Community Development (DESCD) successfully forged a Memorandum of Agreement with the Barangay Council of Barangay Lumbangan. The WMSU's IT-driven initiative provides sustainable reforestation and monitoring practices among identified priority areas in the city. The extension project also aims to capacitate the community, ensuring widespread participation, and fostering a sense of ownership and shared responsibility for watershed conservation.

The ceremony was attended by the Project Team from the IT Department, the Dean of the College of Computing Studies, Dr. Roderick P. Go, University Officials headed by the WMSU President Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena, the RESEL Team headed by VP Dr. Joel G. Fernando, VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Nursia M. Barjose, CPADS Dean Dr. Sarah Taupan, DESCD Director Engr. Hernan N. Rosaldo, faculty members, and students. The extension partner was represented by Hon. Carmelito B. Bejerano, Chairperson of Barangay Lumbangan. Present also was the CS Department extension partner from the DILG-IX headed by Regional Director Hon. Paisal O. Abutazil.
