•Outgoing Senator Message

Even though graduation has already passed, I want to sincerely thank everyone for the trust and opportunity to serve as Senator of CAIS CSC. Time may have gone by, but the gratitude I feel remains as strong as ever.

Serving our student body was not just a role—it was a privilege. The challenges, lessons, and friendships I gained during my term are treasures I will carry with me always. I am deeply thankful to my fellow officers, mentors, and classmates for the support and collaboration that made our work possible.

As I move forward as a graduate, I will continue to live by the values of leadership, service, and integrity that CAIS CSC has instilled in me. This is not a farewell, but a promise to keep striving for excellence and to honor the trust that was once given to me.

59 Years of Unity, Cooperation, and Regional Partnership

On 8 August 1967, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was established in Bangkok, Thailand, through the signing of the ASEAN Declaration, also known as the Bangkok Declaration.

The five founding countries—Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand—came together during a period of significant political and security challenges in Southeast Asia. Their leaders sought to strengthen regional peace and stability, solidarity, economic growth, social progress, and cooperation among Southeast Asian nations.

The five Founding Fathers of ASEAN were Adam Malik of Indonesia, Narciso R. Ramos of the Philippines, Tun Abdul Razak of Malaysia, S. Rajaratnam of Singapore, and Thanat Khoman of Thailand.

From its original five members, ASEAN gradually expanded to include Brunei Darussalam, Viet Nam, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Cambodia. In a historic milestone, Timor-Leste became ASEAN's 11th Member State on 26 October 2025.

Today, ASEAN represents approximately 684.1 million people, based on the latest ASEAN population data, bringing together 11 Southeast Asian nations in a shared regional community.

🇵🇭 THE PHILIPPINES AS ASEAN CHAIR 2026

This year, the Philippines holds the ASEAN Chairmanship for 2026, taking on the responsibility of guiding the regional organization and advancing cooperation among its member states.

Under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together,” the Philippines seeks to strengthen ASEAN's unity, resilience, peace, prosperity, and ability to respond to emerging regional and global challenges.

As we celebrate 59 years of ASEAN, let us remember that the strength of Southeast Asia lies not only in its diversity, but also in its shared commitment to peace, cooperation, development, and regional solidarity.

From five founding nations in 1967 to 11 member states today, ASEAN continues to build a stronger and more connected Southeast Asia.
