On February 6, 2026, our department attended a transformative lecture-workshop at Teatro Estrella, Universidad de Zamboanga. The session, "Rizal and Travel, Rizal without the Overcoat: Best Practices and Effective Teaching of Philippine History and the Rizal Course," challenged us to see our national hero not as a frozen narrative, but as a living, breathing human being.

As we celebrate the 70th year of the Rizal Law (RA 1425), we are reminded of the profound impact of his life and works. As Prof. Ambeth Ocampo beautifully shared during his lecture: "Heroism is not dying for the country, but living for the country."

“To know Rizal is to truly know what it is to be Filipino.” Let’s keep his spirit alive in our classrooms and beyond! 📖✨

On September 30, 2025, representatives from the Social Sciences and Physical Education Department convened at the ILS-WMSU Sibika Hub for an initial consultation regarding a strategic partnership. This initial engagement laid the groundwork for a collaborative framework aimed at enhancing academic and civic discourse.

The partnership was officially formalized on February 2, 2026, through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the ILS-WMSU Sibika Hub and Ateneo de Zamboanga University Senior High School. This milestone marks a significant commitment to fostering institutional collaboration.

We extend our profound gratitude to Mr. Jeffrey O. Jailani, Vice President for Basic Education, and Ms. Diane S. Candido, Senior High School Principal, for their unwavering support and the trust they have placed in the Social Sciences division to spearhead this initiative. This collaboration provides Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) students with a vital platform to cultivate civic consciousness and proactive community engagement

The SSPE Department is overjoyed for our dedicated SSPE teacher, Sir Kyzer for successfully passing the Licensure Examination for Teachers September 2025. Congratulations for a successful LET! We are proud of you!

We also congratulate all other teachers in the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Senior High School and Ateneo de Zamboanga University who also passed the Licensure Examinations for Teachers for September 2025.
