The Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ), through the Centre for Local History and Culture (CLHC) – El Kaban de Zamboanga, participated in the "Collection Stories and Indo-Pacific Worlds" symposium, held on July 12 to 16, 2026, in Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom.

Organized by the Pacific Circle, an affiliated society of the History of Science Society, the symposium explored how collections of botanical, zoological, ethnographic, and other materials have shaped scientific knowledge and historical understanding across the Indo-Pacific region.

UZ was represented by CLHC Director Dr. Felice Noelle Rodriguez, who presented her paper, "Where Land and Sea Meet: The Making of Imperial Science and the Making of a Zamboanga Environment, 1792–1888," on July 15, 2026, at the National Museum of Scotland Auditorium.

During the conference, a copy of Darwin: A Biography (2026) was acquired and donated to the Universidad de Zamboanga Library, further enriching its academic resources in the field of the history of science.

The Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ) proudly hosted the "Soul of Hermosa" Music and Dance Workshop, spearheaded by the City Government of Zamboanga and the City Tourism Office, on July 27 to 29, 2026, at the Rosa Function Hall, UZ Laboratories Building, Tetuan, Zamboanga City.

The workshop, led by the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) headed by Assistant City Administrator and Local Youth Development Officer Mr. Christian Olasiman, gathered students, choreographers, and musicians from across the city to deepen their appreciation and understanding of Zamboanga's music and dance traditions.

The workshop aimed to develop the official musical composition and choreography for the upcoming Zamboanga Hermosa Festival Street Dance Competition, which will be held this October.

Inspired by and created in honor of Nuestra Señora La Virgen del Pilar, the musical composition and choreography celebrate the rich culture, traditions, and identity of Zamboanga City.

Recognizing the vital role of music and dance in preserving cultural heritage, UZ continues to support initiatives that celebrate, preserve, and strengthen Zamboanga's rich history, traditions, and cultural identity.

📍Availability of Yearbook from 2016 to 2022 in North Wing, Academic Building, UZ Main Campus, Tetuan, Zamboanga City
📍Availability of 2015 below yearbooks in UBM City Campus, Ground floor, JS Alano St., Zamboanga City.
UBM is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Monday-Sat, except holidays & Sundays).
