Due to the suspension of face-to-face classes caused by the high heat index in the city, classes will be conducted synchronously through online platforms.

Students are expected to attend and actively participate in their scheduled online meetings. Please coordinate with your teachers and check the designated online platforms for class links and further instructions.

Meanwhile, 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 and continue their regular operations.

ANUNCIO ATENISTA | Suspension of Face-to-Face Classes Due to High Heat Index

In accordance with the advisory of the City Government of Zamboanga suspending face-to-face classes at all levels, public and private, on Monday, August 17, 2026, due to the high heat index, the University shall observe the following arrangements:

1. Classes
- All face-to-face classes at all levels are suspended.
- Faculty members are requested to communicate with their respective students regarding any appropriate academic arrangements, subject to the guidelines of their respective Units.

2. University Work Arrangements
- Consistent with the City Government advisory, University work and office operations shall continue as usual.
- All personnel are therefore expected to report for work in accordance with their regular schedules, unless otherwise authorized by their respective supervisors or covered by existing University policies and work arrangements.
- Supervisors are encouraged to exercise reasonable flexibility, particularly for personnel whose duties require prolonged exposure to outdoor conditions. Outdoor activities that are not urgent or essential should, as far as practicable, be rescheduled or conducted during cooler periods of the day.

3. General Safety Reminders
- Based on the latest PAGASA bulletin cited by the City Government, Zamboanga City’s heat index is forecast to reach 41°C today.
- Everyone is advised to take the necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses.
Please stay hydrated, minimize prolonged outdoor exposure, especially during the
hottest hours of the day, and seek medical attention when necessary.

The safety, health, and well-being of our students and personnel remain our priority. Let us continue to exercise prudence and take the necessary precautions during this period of extreme heat.

JHS ADVISORY | SHIFT TO ONLINE CLASSES

Dear JHS Community,

Following the Mayor’s announcement, only face-to-face classes are suspended due to the heat index. JHS classes will proceed online synchronously.

Faculty and staff work continues, and JHS offices will remain open, unless otherwise advised by the University.

PUBLIC ADVISORY| Face-to-face classes at all levels - both public and private schools in the city are SUSPENDED on Monday, August 17, 2026, due to high heat index.

Based on the latest PAGASA bulletin, Zamboanga City’s heat index is forecast to reach 41 degrees Celsius on Monday, Aug. 17.

Nonetheless, work in government and private agencies, as well as business operations, continue as usual.

The public is advised to take extra precautions during periods of high heat index to prevent heat-related illnesses like cramps, exhaustion, and stroke. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, limit outdoor exposure between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, wear light clothing, and use sun protection.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | BLESSING OF NEW CLASSROOMS AND FACILITIES

Today, we gather as one school community to bless the new spaces that will soon become places of learning, collaboration, growth, and service.

Following the examinations, the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Junior High School will hold the Blessing of the New Classrooms and Facilities, led by Fr. Roberto M. Boholst, SJ, together with our Jesuit Brothers and Campus Ministers.

As these new spaces are entrusted to God, may they serve as homes of wisdom, compassion, formation, and excellence for generations of Ateneans.

May everyone who enters these classrooms be inspired to learn, grow, serve, and strive always For the Greater Glory of God and the Service of Others.
