𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, ICIS2026 serves as a vital platform for deepening the understanding and lived practice of Ignatian values in today’s Church and society.

The Ignatian Conference on Integral Spirituality (ICIS2026) gathers lay and religious individuals committed to deepening their appreciation of the legacy of St. Ignatius of Loyola, fostering reflection, dialogue, and shared mission among Ignatian congregations and collaborators, Jesuit educators and administrators, and pastoral and lay professionals striving to live as contemplatives-in-action. Grounded in the call to form persons for and with others, the conference affirms the continuing relevance of Ignatian spirituality in shaping discerning and compassionate leaders, challenging participants to “Be Your Best Self” in the service of others, guided by faith and a commitment to the greater good.

Representing Ateneo de Zamboanga University Senior High School in this meaningful engagement are Ms. Alyssa Michelle A. Salvacion from the Office of the Prefect of Discipline and Miss Jeina Lynne I. Nambli from the Guidance and Counseling Office, whose participation reflects the school’s commitment to ongoing formation and its shared mission within the Jesuit educational apostolate.

𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐀 𝐒𝐇𝐒 | 𝐈𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔: 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟

Advancing Ignatian Spirituality, eight participants entered a five-day silent retreat from April 13 to 19, 2026, while fourteen participants entered silence from April 15 to 19, 2026. Rooted in the rich tradition of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the retreat was held this year at the Loyola Retreat House – Spirituality and Art Center in Angono, Rizal, the Arts Capital of the Philippines.

The Ignatian Semi-Directed Retreat served as a sacred space for rest, prayer, and renewal, inviting participants to deepen their relationship with God through silence, reflection, and spiritual direction. The retreat fostered discernment and inner freedom among faculty, staff, and administrators of Ateneo de Zamboanga University Senior High School, nurturing their call to live and serve as persons for and with others.

The Senior High School Department is grateful for the retreat masters, Fr. Munching de Guzman, SJ and Fr. Kenzlee Ybañez, SJ, for guiding the participants. In this spirit, the retreat echoed the invitation to "Be Your Best Self" through gratitude, transformation, transition, and a renewed commitment to mission and service.

It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of Mr. Jhon Michael D. Rojas, lovingly known to many as “Tuti.” He was a beloved Subject Area Coordinator for Ignatian Spirituality and Philosophy at Ateneo de Zamboanga University Senior High School, and a cherished presence to all who knew him.

Tuti will be remembered for the light he brought into the lives of others—loving, witty, funny, and ever-energetic. His kindness, warmth, and joyful spirit touched his colleagues, students, friends, and the entire community in countless ways. He lived with purpose, generosity, and faith, leaving behind memories that will be treasured forever.

Though his time with us was far too brief, his life was marked by meaning, service, and love. He was born on December 23, 1994, and was called home to our Creator on April 14, 2026.

As we mourn his passing, we also hold on to the comfort of faith: “Ours a while, God’s forever.” His earthly journey may have ended, but his memory, his impact, and the love he gave will remain with us always. Let us also pray for the comfort and strength of the loved ones he has left behind.

This sacred cradle rocks the brave hearts who fought for freedom during World War II, from the Fall of Bataan to the unyielding spirit of the guerrillas. It's where heroism is nurtured, passing the torch of patriotism from one generation to the next.

Why observe this day? For the young, it's a spark to ignite inner strength, teaching resilience amid modern challenges like it did for our forebears. For the old, it's a heartfelt remembrance, keeping alive the sacrifices that shaped our nation so we never forget the cost of liberty. A testament to why as Filipinos, everyone had and still has the opportunity to thrive.

Today, let's reflect, salute, and commit: Duyan ka ng Magiting.
