AVISO PUBLICO| Mayor Khymer Olaso has ordered the SUSPENSION OF CLASSES in all levels, including WORK in both local and national agencies in Zamboanga City today, June 8, following the earthquake that hit the city earlier today.

Nonetheless, offices providing essential and frontline services MUST CONTINUE normal, uninterrupted operations to serve the public.

Mayor Olaso has advised authorities to inspect the structural integrity of all buildings – schools, offices and other structures, and to protect students from aftershocks.

BDRRMCs in the different barangays are tasked to coordinate with the school authorities, traffic enforcers and other authorities for the safety of teachers and students on their way home.

The DOST- PHIVOLCS has issued a Tsunami Warning strongly advising people in Sarangani, Davao Occidental, Tawi-tawi, Sulu, Basilan, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Sultan Kudarat, and South Cotabato to IMMEDIATELY EVACUATE to higher grounds or move farther inland.

It is forecast that the first tsunami waves will arrive between 7:37am, 8June 2026 to 9:37am, 8June 2026. These waves may continue for hours.

Based on preliminary earthquake parameters, the location of the earthquake was offshore Sarangani with a depth of 10 kilomers and magnitude 7.0.

𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗔𝗣 || On June 5, our 𝐑𝐄𝐇𝐒 𝐒𝐒𝐋𝐆 officers took an active role by attending the KK (Sangguniang Kabataan) Assembly in Barangay Labuan. 😄💗

It was a productive day of aligning our goals with local youth initiatives, followed by our final stretch of Brigada Eskwela 2026 preparations. 🙌🏻

Today, we officially wrapped up our Brigada Eskwela 2026 at Ramon Enriquez High School with a meaningful closing program. It was an honor to be joined by our esteemed Principal, our dedicated faculty, and our hardworking SSLG officers as we celebrated the success of this week’s collective efforts. ✨

Your time, sweat, and dedication have truly transformed our school into a more welcoming home for our learners.
