Building Resilience Seminar Equips Grade 12 Learners to Face Challenges
On August 15, 2026, at Martires de Barbastro Hall, Claret School of Zamboanga City held a seminar for all Grade 12 learners. Together with their Guidance Facilitator, Mrs. Rosa Gregorio-Gomez, the topic presented focused on building resilience.
Mrs. Gomez introduced the topic by explaining Eriksonβs stages of psychological development. She then discussed the physical, emotional, and mental aspects of resilience. βThe true self is separating from the expectations of others,β she added.
Throughout the seminar, Mrs. Gomez introduced the 3Cs of Psychological Resilience, which helped the Grade 12 learners create their own value compass that includes the expectations of the people around them. They also participated in the Resilience Reframe and Resilience Pledge activities, where they were tasked to write a letter to their graduating selves. At the end of the seminar, Mrs. Gomez presented two videos that showed people who were resilient enough to survive challenging situations. The first video showed Typhoon Yolanda in 2013, while the second video featured the Zamboanga Siege in 2013.
The learners participated actively by sharing their thoughts on building resilience and what they learned from the seminar.
