Proudly Presenting our first ever batch of Alternative Learning System (ALS). You are the pioneers of second chances and are living proof that patience and willingness to learn can overcome any obstacle life throws your way. Your journey to this moment wasn't a traditional one, and that is exactly what makes your achievement so remarkable. You balanced work, families, and life's unexpected challenges, yet you still showed up with a hunger to learn. You didn't just earn an education; you proved that determination has no age limit and success has no single path.

Congratulations to our very first ALS batch—may this milestone be the foundation for even greater success ahead of you.

Today marks the Ash Wednesday to a solemn beginning of Lent, a 40-day period of reflection, fasting, and penance. It is most recognized by the tradition of placing blessed ashes on the foreheads of the faithful in the shape of a cross. These ashes are typically made by burning the palm fronds from the previous year’s Palm Sunday. As the ashes are applied, a minister usually recites a reminder of human mortality, such as "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return," or a call to spiritual renewal: "Repent, and believe in the Gospel."

The day serves as a "spiritual wake-up call." It falls on a Wednesday to ensure the Lenten season (excluding Sundays). For many, it is a day of fasting and abstinence—traditionally abstaining from meat—meant to shift focus away from physical indulgences and toward prayer and acts of charity. It’s a quiet, introspective start to a season focused on humility and the preparation of the heart.

May this holy season awaken in us a sincere love for God and neighbor, that our fasting and prayer bear fruit in mercy and holiness.
