HEALTH AND SAFETY TIPS FOR HOT AND DRY WEATHER:

1. STAY HYDRATED.
Drink plenty of fluids. Drink about 16 ounces before starting an activity and 5 to 7 ounces every 15 to 20 minutes.
2. DRESS COMFORTABLY.
Wear lightweight, light colored and loose clothing to let air circulate and heat escape.
3. AVOID BEING OUTSIDE DURING THE HOTTEST PART OF THE DAY.
If going out, always wear a hat or use an umbrella and apply sunscreen. Find shade or block out the sun if possible.
4. AVOID DEHYDRATING DRINKS.
Alcohol, coffee, tea and caffeinated soft drinks can stop your body from controlling its temperature properly.
5. TAKE FREQUENT BREAKS.
Slow down your activities as it gets hotter. Don’t work, exercise or play outside for an extended period of time.
6. BE ALERT TO SIGNS OF HEAT – RELATED ILLNESSES.
Symptoms may include dizziness or fainting, nausea, rapid breathing and heartbeat, or extreme thirst. If you have any symptoms, move to a cool place and drink water.

Kaisa ang Kagawaran ng Edukasyon ng buong bansa sa pagpapalakas ng kampanya upang maiwasan ang sunog, lalo na ngayong Fire Prevention Month.

May temang “Sa pag-iwas sa sunog, hindi ka nag-iisa,” patuloy na pinatatatag ng DepEd ang pagpapatupad sa mga programa sa paaralan na nagbibigay ng kaalaman kung paano maiiwasan at ano ang mga sanhi, hazards, at panganib ng sunog.
