DepEd: PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND STUDENTS ARE NOT COVERED BY THE 4-DAY WORKWEEKโผ๏ธ
The Department of Education (DepEd) confirmed that public schools will not be part of the four-day workweek arrangement announced by President Marcos, set to begin on March 9, 2026. The workweek change, which affects some executive branch agencies, aims to address the rising oil prices due to the Middle East conflict. Education Secretary Sonny Angara clarified that while DepEd offices will follow the new schedule, public schools will continue their usual operations.
In related news, Angara also ordered that graduation and moving-up ceremonies for public school students be simple and budget-conscious, adhering to the "no collection" policy. These ceremonies are to be held for Kindergarten, Grade 6, Grade 10, Grade 12, and Alternative Learning System students who meet the curriculum requirements. The end-of-school-year rites will take place on March 30 or 31, 2026, under the theme "Filipino Graduates: Prepared to Lead with Competence and Character."
