This Pride Month, the ZPPSU – University Student Council (USC) proudly stands in solidarity with every member of the LGBTQIA+ community as we celebrate diversity, equality, acceptance, and the freedom to be one's authentic self. Together with ZPPSU UNLA MASCARA and the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where every student is respected, valued, and empowered regardless of their gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation.

We believe that every individual deserves to be heard, represented, and treated with dignity. This month is not only a celebration of pride and identity but also a reminder of the importance of understanding, compassion, and unity within our community.

This June, UniFAST joins the celebration of diversity, equality, and the contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community in shaping a more compassionate and progressive society.

As advocates of quality and inclusive education, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing inclusive and equitable higher education where every learner is respected, valued, and empowered, regardless of gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or personal background. Higher education institutions must remain safe and welcoming spaces that uphold the rights, dignity, and aspirations of all students.

Guided by Republic Act No. 10931, or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, we continue to implement programs like the Free Higher Education, the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES), and the Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) that expand educational opportunities and remove barriers to learning.

Let us continue to promote inclusivity, understanding, and mutual respect across our campuses and communities.

𝗭𝗣𝗣𝗦𝗨 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗔𝗗 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 2026, 𝙛𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮

The Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) recently honored outstanding women leaders and advocates during its Gender and Development (GAD) Awarding Ceremony held at the University Gymnasium on March 26, 2026. The event highlighted the theme: "LeadHERship: Celebrating ZPPSU Women GADvocates," recognized the pivotal role of women in fostering inclusive leadership and gender-responsive initiatives.

Several admin personnel and faculty members received notable awards, including the Babaylan Guardian of Safety Award, GAD Service Award, GAD Champion Award, GAD Advocate Award, GAD Program Implementer Award, Legacy of Empowerment Award, Babaylan Leadership Award, and Babaylan of the Year Award, for their contributions to gender equality and women's empowerment, and dedication to promoting gender awareness and implementing GAD programs within the university.

The GAD celebration is more than just a month-long event; it's a lifelong commitment to empowering women and promoting equality. As Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Maria Christina G. Wee emphasized, ZPPSU is dedicated to uplifting women as catalysts of change and champions of equity.

In its culmination, the university held the “Juana Dance Competition” last March 30, as part of its continued advocacy for gender empowerment and cultural expression which resulted in the following winners: the College of Teacher Education (CTE) as first placer, followed by the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) as second placer, and Senior High School (SHS) as third placer.

The university community is encouraged to embody the spirit of "Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas" – nurturing leadership grounded in empathy, wisdom, and cultural pride. By recognizing and celebrating these women, ZPPSU reinforces its commitment to creating a more inclusive and empowered academic community.
