✨CAHSS and GAD Office Launch Seminar Series for Student Awareness and Empowerment✨

The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS), in collaboration with the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, has launched a series of student-centered initiatives aimed at fostering awareness, advocacy, inclusivity, and empowerment. Designed to address pressing social issues, the program seamlessly integrates Gender and Development principles into the academic setting-reflecting the university's commitment to nurturing holistic and socially responsible student leaders.

The series opened with the ✨Mental Health and Anti-Bullying Awareness Seminar✨, which underscored the urgent need to support student mental health and foster a safe, inclusive campus culture. The event began with an inspiring message from Prof. Jocelyn P. Remoto, Dean of CAHSS, who emphasized the importance of such seminars in helping students understand and engage with issues that significantly impact their academic and personal lives. This was followed by a dynamic lecture from Asst. Prof. Ma. Jessamine Andajon, a respected advocate for Stress Education Management and Gender and Development. Her engaging presentation empowered students to face mental health challenges with empathy, resilience, and proactive action.

Fifty student leaders from the Bachelor of Science in Development Communication, Batsilyer ng Sining sa Filipino, and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Industrial Design programs actively participated in the seminar. Through meaningful exchanges with the speaker, students shared insights and personal experiences in a safe, respectful environment. These conversations not only deepened their understanding of mental health issues but also highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in creating a supportive and inclusive academic community.

The seminar concluded with a powerful message from Prof. Mary Fe Dela Cruz, Director of Gender and Development, ZPPSU. Her remarks reaffirmed the university’s commitment to upholding its Safe Space and Anti-Bullying Policy, encouraging students to prioritize their well-being and continue striving for academic success despite personal challenges.

The success of the event was made possible through the efforts of CAHSS GAD Coordinator Inst. Pablito T. Rollen, in collaboration with the GAD Office staff, LICAHSS officers, and with the full support of the university administration.

Building on this momentum, upcoming activities include a 📌HIV/AIDS Awareness Seminar on October 2, 2025, focusing on prevention, treatment, and destigmatization; and a 📌Career Knowledge Seminar on November 4, 2025, which will equip students with tools for career planning and professional growth. This session will also highlight the importance of inclusivity, respect, and gender sensitivity in the workplace.

These activities reaffirm CAHSS and the GAD Office’s shared mission to develop informed, empowered, and socially responsible leaders, ready to thrive in diverse and respectful environments beyond the university. 🫶🏻💜💚
