𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.

The Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ) conducted an inter-departmental Healthcare Simulation Exercise (SimEx) on June 24, 2026, at the UZ Main Campus and the UZ Healthcare Simulation Centre, UZ Laboratories Building, Tetuan, Zamboanga City.

The exercise featured simulated disaster scenarios designed to assess the School of Allied Medicine (SAM) faculty members' clinical competencies and their responses during emergency and untoward situations. In addition, the event also evaluated their communication, leadership, teamwork, and resilience, essential competencies in healthcare practice.

Faculty members from the Nursing, Medical Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, and Radiologic Technology departments were grouped into interdisciplinary teams, practicing Interprofessional Education (IPE), an approach that promotes collaboration among healthcare professionals from different specializations to improve patient outcomes and strengthen team-based care.

The participating teams were evaluated by University personnel trained in disaster risk reduction and emergency management, including University President Mr. Abram Eustaquio; Director for Quality Assurance and Risk Management Ms. Jeriemay Polidario; Safety, Health, and Environment Department (SHED) Officer Ms. Jessica Pacio; SHED Safety Officer Mr. Chonimar Elloreg; UZ 627th ROTC Unit Operations Officer CPO JuneJune Cañete, PN (Ret.); and Quality Management Systems Department (QMSD) Internal Auditor Ms. Fatiema Diki.

The simulation exercises successfully demonstrated the faculty members' proficiency in both clinical and non-clinical competencies, highlighting the capability of UZ's clinical instructors to effectively train and mentor future healthcare professionals through innovative and simulation-enhanced learning experiences.
