WMSU MASSCOM STUDENTS HOST SUCCESSFUL SEMINAR ON JOURNALISTIC INTEGRITY

Yesterday, April 18, 2024, WMSU Mass Communication students organized a seminar addressing the crucial topic of "Journalistic Integrity in Digital Media." Held at WMSU-PEACE NOOK Executive Building, the event was graced by our esteemed guest speakers; Mr. Noe T. Lacastesantos R.N. and Mr. Ahmad Shaid Salim.

Mr. Salim led a discussion on Clickbaiting, offering insights into its impact and strategies for combatting it. Following his talk, Mr. Lacastesantos delved into Context-stripping and Social Bots, highlighting their significance in today's media landscape.

Students from various courses within the university participated in the seminar, showcasing the widespread interest in understanding and confronting the challenges of modern journalism.

It's a Wrap 🫑

The Journalism 4-A and 4-B classes joined forces to lead the seminar with the theme "Battling Disinformation: Recognizing the Drawbacks of Media in the Digital Age", yesterday, March 26, 2024, at the College of Engineering, WMSU. The seminar proved fruitful as it enriched the minds of participants in dealing with rampant fake news, sensationalized reports, and explicit bias.

The event was attended by Mr. Belsie G. Agustin, Ms. Ma. Elora Mae F. Maravilla, and Ms. Belen Sheila E. Covarrubias, respectively, as guest speakers. Each of these distinguished individuals graciously shared their expertise and knowledge, contributing to the success of the seminar.

SEMINAR ON JOURNALISM UPDATEπŸ˜‰

🎀 switching into the complex realm of journalism, our March 15, 2024, session on Red Tagging and Cyber Libel was a fascinating discussion about the difficulties confronting the modern media environment. Our seminar, with the theme "Media Maze: Decoding the puzzle," drew together sharp minds from the Mass Communication student body.

Our session was educational and powerful, demonstrating the strength of information and teamwork. We were motivated by the zeal and commitment of the upcoming generation of communicators to preserve journalistic integrity as we assembled with them. We deciphered the mysteries of together.
