STATEMENT

The President Ramon Magsaysay State University supports the freedom of each individual’s political beliefs and aspirations, including the open discussion of political ideas and opinions. As part of its dedication to enjoin each one’s right to suffrage and active participation in the coming elections, the university encourages students, faculty, and staff to exercise their civic rights to participate as individuals in the political process by voting in the coming May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections.

All officials and employees of the university are barred from participating in or attempting to influence, directly or indirectly, campaigns for any elective public office or any political party (i.e. electioneering and partisan politics as identified in PRMSU Office Order No. 21, s. 2021 dated 23 September 2021). No member of the university community should feel any institutional pressure to support a particular political candidate or party.

The university does not endorse a candidate or political party nor does it authorize its name to be associated with any electioneering and partisan political activity. Hence, the use of university facilities and resources to support or give the impression that the university is supporting one candidate or party over another is not permitted.

The University calls for everyone to be cautious because of the confusion and wrong impression about any institutional affiliation of the university in relation to posts or publications of supporters of any political campaign or initiative. All postings through social media that refer to electioneering and campaigning are not on the official pages and publications of the PRMSU.

We would like to clarify and firmly express that their political and partisan actions and statements are their own and not those of the university. The PRMSU maintains its neutral stand and freedom from any political affiliation. It does not publish, post or distribute political materials in support or opposition of a political candidate or party.
