The seminar featured Mr. Reymark M. Dasigan, Fabric Development Officer II, as the resource speaker, who shared his expertise on the fundamental and advanced practices in abaca cultivation. He emphasized the importance of proper harvesting techniques, efficient post-harvest handling, and the standardized process of fiber grading and classification to ensure high-quality output that meets industry standards.
During the discussion, students were introduced to the different grades of abaca fiber, their characteristics, and their corresponding market value, highlighting how quality directly influences competitiveness in local markets. The session also underscored the role of farmers and future agriculturists in maintaining product integrity through proper handling and adherence to grading standards.
