For children entering kindergarten

DepEd Order No. 15, s. 2025
Introducing a new age cut-off policy for kindergarten to expand access to early education in the Philippines. Here are the details:

Major Change in Policy

Starting School Year (SY) 2025–2026, children 5 years old and below may enroll in kindergarten on or before October 31. It has been expanded from August 31, which will allow thousands of additional children (especially those born in September/October) to start formal education earlier.

Purpose of Change

This adaptation is in line with President Marcos's vision of a learner-centered education system. DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara stressed the policy's flexibility, saying it ensures children can start "strong and successful from day one," regardless of their developmental pace.

Special Condition

- Children born November 1–December 31 can still enroll if:
1. Completed one year Early Childhood Development (ECD) program at the recognized center.
2. Passed the ECD Checklist to be done during enrollment or the first week of classes.
