Lumaba Integrated School successfully conducted its two-day School Based In-Service Training (INSET) 2026 on September 10–11, 2026, with the theme “AI for Enhanced Teaching and Learning.” The activity was designed to provide the teaching personnel with a meaningful opportunity to learn, explore, and share practical ways of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technology in teaching and learning. With the growing role of technology in education, the training served as a timely opportunity for teachers to strengthen their digital skills while keeping the needs and welfare of learners at the center of instruction.
The training brought together the teaching personnel of Lumaba Integrated School in a collaborative and supportive learning environment. The sessions were facilitated by Sinamar B. Tamo, Head Teacher II; Rolando C. Cabatic, Master Teacher II; Miracel S. Lanas, Teacher III; Marlyn B. Lacangan, Teacher VI;Consolacion A.Pescozo,Teacher VI and Jerryl B. Beronilla, Teacher I. Their combined efforts helped make the training relevant to the day-to-day experiences of teachers and provided opportunities for participants to actively engage in discussions, demonstrations, hands-on activities, and sharing of ideas.
During the training, teachers were introduced to practical applications of Artificial Intelligence in education. The discussions focused not only on what AI tools can do, but more importantly on how these tools can be used appropriately in actual classroom situations. Teachers explored possible applications of AI in lesson planning, preparation of instructional materials, development of learning activities, assessment, and learner engagement. The hands-on activities allowed participants to experience the tools themselves and see how technology could assist them in making some teaching tasks more efficient and creative.
One of the important parts of the activity was the sharing of experiences among teachers. Participants discussed the opportunities and challenges they may encounter when using AI in their work. Teachers were encouraged to share ideas, ask questions, and learn from one another. These exchanges made the sessions more practical because the discussions were connected to the actual needs, experiences, and classroom situations of the teachers in Lumaba Integrated School.
The training also emphasized that Artificial Intelligence should be used as a support to teachers and not as a replacement for professional judgment. Participants were reminded to carefully check AI-generated information, improve and contextualize generated materials, protect learner information, and observe academic integrity. The responsible and ethical use of technology was emphasized throughout the activity so that the benefits of AI could be maximized while possible risks and inappropriate use could be avoided.
Despite differences in teachers’ familiarity with digital and AI tools, the participants were able to work together and support one another. Simple explanations, demonstrations, guided practice, and peer assistance helped teachers become more comfortable with the tools introduced during the training. The activity showed that professional learning becomes more meaningful when teachers are given enough time to practice, ask questions, make adjustments, and learn from their colleagues.
By the end of the two-day training, the teachers were able to identify practical ways of applying their learning in their respective classes. They gained new ideas for preparing lessons and learning resources, improving classroom activities, and making assessment tasks more engaging. More importantly, the training encouraged teachers to continue learning and experimenting with technology while remaining mindful of its proper and responsible use.
The INSET 2026 also served as an avenue for strengthening teamwork and professional collaboration among the teaching personnel. Beyond the technical knowledge gained, the activity provided teachers with time to reflect on their current practices and consider how innovative approaches can contribute to better learning experiences for pupils and students. The positive participation and willingness of the teachers to share and learn from one another contributed greatly to the success of the activity.
While other Teachers ,Ms.Heidel Weiss Jahel A. Zales attended the Division Training of Teachers on critical Content and Pedagogy in Mathematics at Puerto De San Juan La Union.
Mrs. Evangeline B. Badua,Mrs. Mary Grace L. Lindawan and Mrs Elsa C. Guerrero attended Division training of receiving Teacher in understanding the nature and needs of learners with Autism Spectrum disorder,Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Emotional Behavior at Westloch Park Hotel,Sto Domingo Ilocos Sur.
Mr. Brendo Balido attended the Regional Training on the use of Filipino Sign Language as a medium of Instruction in Banaue Realty And Development,Baguio City.
Mr.Gilford T. Fiesta and Mrs. Jehara M. Ferrer Attended Pansangay na Pagsasanay sa Gurong nagtuturo ng Asignaturang Filipino sa Pastoral Center sa Bangued Abra.
Moving forward, Lumaba Integrated School will continue to encourage teachers to apply the knowledge and skills gained from the training. Follow-up sharing, coaching, and school-based professional learning activities may be conducted to help teachers further develop their confidence and competence .Teachers are also encouraged to document effective practices and share useful resources with their colleagues so that the benefits of the training can be sustained.
This Endeavor was a productive and meaningful professional development activity for the teaching personnel of Lumaba Integrated School. It provided teachers with new knowledge, practical experiences, and opportunities for collaboration.
