As Typhoon Uwan continues to move closer to Northern Luzon, VILLASIS and nearby towns are expected to experience strong winds and heavy rains this weekend. Let’s all stay alert, informed, and ready.

📢 POSSIBLE IMPACTS:
• Very heavy rain — may cause floods and landslides
• Strong winds — may damage power lines and light buildings
• Power outages and possible damage to roads or houses

📢 WHAT TO EXPECT:
• Strong winds may start on Saturday night or early Sunday morning
• Heavy rain and winds are expected from Sunday evening until Tuesday

⚠️ BEFORE THE STORM:
1. Charge phones, flashlights, and power banks
2. Prepare an emergency go-bag (food, water, flashlight, batteries, medicines, first aid kit, important documents, extra clothes)
3. Store enough drinking water and ready-to-eat food for 2–3 days
4. Secure your home — tie down or bring inside loose items
5. Know the nearest evacuation centers and routes

🌧 DURING THE STORM:
1. Stay indoors and away from windows
2. Avoid going outside or crossing flooded areas
3. Unplug electrical appliances if flooding starts
4. Listen to official advisories on radio, TV, or online
5. Keep communication lines open for emergencies

☀️ AFTER THE STORM:
1. Check surroundings for fallen wires or damaged structures
2. Avoid wading in floodwaters
3. Help clean up surroundings safely
4. Stay tuned for further weather updates
5. Offer help to neighbors and report emergencies to authorities

Did you know June is National Environment Month in the Philippines?

This important observance, established by Presidential Proclamation No. 237, s. 1988, is deeply rooted in our 1987 Philippine Constitution, specifically Article II, Section 16, which champions our right to a balanced and healthful ecology.

This year, we're uniting under the powerful global theme: "Ending Global Plastic Pollution." This isn't just a theme; it's a vital call to action to confront the pervasive plastic crisis harming our planet and its precious ecosystems.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), along with its key agencies like the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) and Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB), are at the forefront, leading initiatives to boost public awareness and champion policies for a cleaner, greener future.
