Let's look back on one of the 4 highlights of the concluded Week of Welcome 2026!
With this year's theme being inspired from the movie SWAPPED, the EMT department was chosen to represent DZO, the giant with swapping pods who plays a vital role in the movie. With that, the aemt officers and several volunteers poured days into the creation of the DZO themed booth. Going to different venues to assemble the base, then going to far flung places to secure real vines and other genuine greenery as decorations. We wanted it to be as realistic as possible and although we are inexperience, through teamwork, and perseverance we were able to achieve that goal.
Another part of our booth were the games! Co-managed by fellow senior EMT student volunteers, the stop timer and the electric coil challenge was a massive success. Both commissioned by the organization from a 3rd year EMT student. Many were drawn to it, showing the competitive nature of trailblazers. So much so that they were told to instead participate on the ongoing activities since they were lacking participants while a crowd was flocking the booth. Maybe the keychain prizes were too attractive?
Speaking of prizes, not only do they offer financial assistance to worthy and struggling students, TIBAY got the goods! Stationed beside our DZO photobooth is their very own booth. Good quality pens given to whoever can answer any of their seemingly neverending challenging trivia questions from multiple fun categories. It's a good exercise for the brain, getting trailblazers ready for the school year. Challenging even for our Dean's Listers with multiple TIBAY pens! But, no frown were seen, only smiles and laughter because it really is in the EMT spirit to crave challenges and seize any opportunity to grow and gain new knowledge.
Those days were tiring, lacking manpower and expertise, bruises and other things. But, to see our freshmen enjoy their very first day on campus made it all worth it. We are now more committed to make your 4 short years of stay in this department enjoyable and memorable! Stay tuned for more fun events!
