Cruz ES Marks 10th South China Sea Arbitral Award Anniversary

Cruz Elementary School joined schools across the country in the Simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony on July 6, 2026, in preparation for the 10th Anniversary of the 2016 South China Sea Arbitral Award, which will be commemorated on July 12, 2026.

The activity was conducted in response to the directive of the National Security Council (NSC) and the National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS) to promote greater awareness of the country's maritime rights and the significance of the landmark legal ruling.

As part of the ceremony, Ma'am Marlene Nota facilitated an informative discussion highlighting the importance of the 2016 South China Sea Arbitral Award, the West Philippine Sea, and the Philippines' sovereignty, sovereign rights, jurisdiction, and lawful maritime entitlements under international law. She also emphasized that the commemoration serves as a reminder of the country's commitment to the peaceful resolution of disputes through the rule of law.

Learners actively participated in the activity, which aimed to foster greater awareness and appreciation of the Philippines' sovereignty, sovereign rights, jurisdiction, and lawful maritime entitlements while encouraging active citizenship among the youth.

The discussion inspired learners to become informed, responsible, and patriotic citizens who value peace, respect the law, and contribute positively to nation-building.

Cruz ES Conducts First SPTA Gen. Assembly

Parent Orientation and First School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA) General Assembly for School Year 2026–2027 was successfully conducted at Cruz Elementary School, bringing together parents, teachers, school personnel, and barangay leaders to strengthen collaboration and promote shared responsibility in providing quality education for every learner.

The activity was also graced by Hon. Editha Apolonio, Barangay Councilor and Committee on Education Chairperson, and Hon. Luisito Gacusan, Barangay Councilor, whose presence demonstrated the barangay's continued support for the school's programs and initiatives. Their participation underscored the importance of strong collaboration among the school, parents, and the local government in advancing the welfare and education of every learner.

The program opened with an orientation on important Advisories to Parents led by Ma'am Belinda Rosario, who discussed essential procedures and reminders in supporting, protecting and giving welfare to their children and their overall well-being.

To promote discipline and a safe learning environment, Ma'am Joyal Abalos presented the school's Do's and Don'ts, emphasizing the rules and regulations that every learner and parent should observe. She highlighted the importance of cooperation in maintaining a positive, respectful, and orderly school community.

Meanwhile, Ma'am Marlene Nota oriented the parents on the New School Calendar for School Year 2026–2027, particularly the implementation of the Three-Term Block System and the revised grading system. She explained the significant changes in the academic calendar, assessment schedule, and grading procedures to help parents better understand how they can support their children's academic progress throughout the school year.

A brief Parents' Effectiveness Seminar was also previewed by Ma'am Anna Lea Dizon, who underscored the vital role of parents as their children's first teachers.

In her presentation, Ma'am Elsa Dispo, OIC-School Head, reported on the financial status of the school, including updates on stakeholders' contributions, completed and ongoing school projects, and other initiatives aimed at improving school facilities and services. She emphasized transparency, accountability, and the importance of sustained community support in achieving the school's goals.

One of the highlights of the assembly was the Election of SPTA Officers for School Year 2026–2027, which was efficiently facilitated by Ma'am Charmaine Catausan, who also served as the program's Master of Ceremonies. The election provided parents with the opportunity to choose leaders who will work closely with the school in implementing programs and projects that will benefit the learners.

The success of the activity was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the teaching and non-teaching personnel. Ma'am Mercywin Doña Bañez provided technical assistance throughout the program, while Sir Enrico Llorente managed the sound system to ensure the smooth delivery of presentations. Raymond Bergonio, Administrative Aide I (ADA I), and Judy Agliam, Administrative Aide III (ADA III), took charge of the physical arrangement of the venue, creating an organized and welcoming environment for the participants. Meanwhile, Ma'am Jocelyn Teodoro handled the documentation of the event and attendance monitoring, ensuring that the proceedings were properly recorded.

The successful conduct of the Parent Orientation and First SPTA General Assembly reflects Cruz Elementary School's commitment to meaningful parent engagement. More than fulfilling a requirement, the activity served as a venue for parents and educators, together with the barangay officials, to strengthen partnerships, deepen mutual understanding, and work collectively toward providing a safe, inclusive, and learner-centered educational environment.

Ang disiplina at pag-unawa ay puwedeng magsabay. Suportahan natin ang kapakanan ng mga mag-aaral at ang mga g**ong humuhubog sa kanilang kinabukasan.

May nahuli akong nangongopya. Di ko na sinita. Baka kasi ma-trauma.
May nagdadaldalan habang exam? Hinayaan ko na lang. Baka sabihan akong abusive.
May lumalakad-lakad, parang nasa mall. Gusto ko sanang singhalan, kaso baka magka-anxiety.
May nagsisigawan pa. Pero wag na, baka child abuse na naman 'yan.

Gusto ko sanang punitin yung kodigo pero baka magsumbong. Baka mag-viral. Baka magka-depression.
So ayun... ngumiti na lang ako. Ganyan na talaga ngayon.
Mga bata? Masyadong marupok.
At bakit?

Eh paano? Kapag pinagsabihan mo, violation na.
Kapag pinagalitan mo, mental damage na raw.

Kaya huwag na tayong magulat...
5 to 10 years from now,
We’ll have a generation that’s entitled, fragile, and loud pero allergic sa correction.

Gusto n’yo ng child protection? Eh teacher protection meron ba?

Kung second parent talaga kami,
Bakit kami bawal magdisiplina?
Second parent ba ang takot sa estudyante?

Mga batang '80s at '90s:
Luhod sa asin.
Luhod sa munggo.
Naliparan ng chalk.
Nabato ng eraser.
Pero tumibay. Lumaban.
Ngayon? Masermunan mo lang, may breakdown na.

Hello, students.
Hello, Pilipinas.
Good luck sa future.

Feeding Program Brings Joy to Cruz ES Learners

Learners of Cruz Elementary School once again experienced the generosity and compassion of Mr. Klinger Dispo, the only son of the School Head, who sponsored a feeding program for Cruzians on the morning of June 18, 2026.

Carrying the theme, “KLINGER DISPO: PAGKAIN AT KALINGA KO, NGITI ANG BALIK MO,” the outreach activity provided nutritious meals to learners while promoting the values of kindness and care.

This marks the second consecutive year that Mr. Dispo has extended assistance to the learners of Cruz ES. In 2025, he conducted an outreach activity that benefited many Cruzians through the distribution of slippers, helping provide a basic necessity to pupils in need. This year, he continued his commitment to supporting learners by addressing another essential need—proper nutrition.

The beneficiaries happily received the meals prepared for them, while teachers and school personnel expressed their sincere gratitude for Mr. Dispo’s continued generosity and concern for the welfare of the pupils.

During the program, Mr. Dispo also shared an inspiring message with the learners. He encouraged them to value their education and respect their parents, saying, “Mag-aral mabuti, mahalin at sumunod sa magulang, at susunod na lahat.” His words served as a reminder that success begins with diligence in studies, love for one's family, and obedience to parents and elders.

More than the food served, the activity reflected the spirit of giving and the importance of helping young learners thrive both in health and in education. Through initiatives such as these, partnerships between the school and its stakeholders are strengthened, creating a positive and lasting impact on the lives of learners.

The program concluded with grateful hearts and smiling faces, proving once again that acts of kindness, no matter how simple, can bring hope and happiness to the Cruz ES learners.
