GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE BOOK TRAILER CONTEST

The BOOK TRAILER CONTEST aims to cultivate studentsโ€™ love for reading and enhance their creative and communication skills by producing short video trailers inspired by books they have read. Through this activity, students will apply storytelling techniques, digital literacy, and artistic expression to encourage others to read.

Mechanics for the Book Trailer Contest
1. Participants
โ€ข The contest is open to grade 12, Senior High School students.
โ€ข Participants may join individually or as a group of up to 15 members.

2. Guidelines
a. Participants must create a book trailer (video) based on a book available in the school library or a recognized published book.
b. The duration of the trailer must be 40 seconds to 1 minute only.
c. The trailer should introduce the bookโ€™s theme, main characters, and conflict without revealing the full story or ending.
d. Creativity and originality are highly encouraged โ€” the trailer may use live acting, animation, voice-over, or a combination of multimedia techniques.
e. Credits for background music, images, and other media used must be included at the end of the trailer.
f. The language used may be Filipino, English, or a combination of both.
g. All entries must be school-appropriate and uphold positive values.

3. Technical Specifications
โ€ข Video Duration: 40 seconds โ€“ 1 minute
โ€ข File Format: MP4 (landscape orientation)
โ€ข Resolution: Minimum 720p HD
โ€ข File Name Format: BookTitle_GradeSection.mp4

4. Parental Consent Requirement (For Students)
โ€ข Student participants are required to submit a duly signed Parent/Guardian Consent Form before joining the activity.
โ€ข A copy of the Parent/Guardian Consent Form may be obtained from the School Library.
โ€ข Students without a signed consent form will not be allowed to participate in the activity.

5. Submission of Entries
All entries must be submitted to the Library via flash drive or Google drive link on or before the specified deadline.

GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE FACE THE BOOK CHALLENGE

FACE THE BOOK CHALLENGE aims to promote love for reading and creativity among students through a visual and imaginative activity. By using the book cover as part of their self-portrait, participants will creatively merge themselves with the characters or themes of the books they read. This activity encourages artistic expression, engagement with literature, and appreciation of books as both educational and artistic media.

Mechanics for the โ€œFace the Book Challengeโ€
1. Participants
โ€ข The activity is open to the School Community (Teaching and Non Teaching personnel, students and parents).
โ€ข Participants may join individually or in pairs.

2. Guidelines
a. Each participant must select a book with a cover that includes a face, figure, or element that can be aligned or blended with their own face or body.
b. Participants will creatively position the book cover in front of their face or body to match the image on the book, creating an illusion where the book becomes part of them.
c. The participantโ€™s photo will be taken (by themselves, a classmate, or a designated photographer) with good lighting and clear alignment of the book cover.
d. Each photo entry must include the following details:
โ€ข Title and Author of the Book
โ€ข Name and Grade/Section of the Participant
โ€ข A short caption (1โ€“2 sentences) describing why they chose that book

3. Submission
โ€ข Entries must be submitted to the SFMNHS Library FB Page on or before the specified deadline, November 21, 2025.
โ€ข Participants must comment their entry on the official contest post uploaded on the SFMNHS Library page.
โ€ข Late submissions will not be accepted.

4. Parental Consent Requirement (For Students)
โ€ข Student participants are required to submit a duly signed Parent/Guardian Consent Form before joining the activity.
โ€ข A copy of the Parent/Guardian Consent Form may be obtained from the School Library.
