Component of the Day! โจโจ
๐ง What is Arduino?
Arduino = openโsource electronics platform made of hardware boards + free software you use to build things that sense, react, and control the real world. Created in Italy in 2005 so anyoneโstudents, makers, designersโcan prototype easily.
๐ฆ Two main parts
๐ ๏ธ Hardware
A small board with a microcontroller = the โtiny computer brainโ that runs your instructions . Most common:
- Uno โ standard starter board
- Nano โ smaller for tight spaces
- Plus pins to plug in sensors, motors, lights, displays
๐ป Software
Arduino IDE โ free app where you write simple C/C++โbased code, click upload, and your board follows it.
โก How it works
- Reads INPUTS: button presses, temperature, light, distance, sound
- Runs your logic/code
- Triggers OUTPUTS: turn LED on/off, spin motor, show text, send alert
โจ Why itโs perfect for you
โ
Beginnerโfriendly & affordable
โ
Openโsource: free designs, codes, tutorials worldwide
โ
Works with almost every sensor/module (including ESP32!)
โ
Millions of projects & guides for ICT club builds
๐ Quick example
โIf it gets dark โ turn on lampโ
โ Light sensor reads low light โ Arduino switches relay/LED ON.
