We often say that death deserves respect and someone who dies deserves peace. We offer condolences, ask people to be sensitive enough, and remind others that there is a grieving family behind every tragedy. However, this sensitivity seems to disappear when the person who died is guilty or associated with drugs, crime, or the governmentโs drug campaign. Suddenly, this conversation shifts. Instead of asking what happened, people tend to ask what the person might have done to deserve it. Instead of mourning a life lost, we turn death into a comment section filled with laughter, reactions, assumptions, and cruel remarks.
This is exactly why cases related to ๐ฒ๐

The death anniversary of ๐๐๐๐ฃ ๐ฟ๐๐ก๐ค๐จ ๐๐๐ฃ๐ฉ๐ค๐จ, for example, should remind us not only of a young life that was lost, but also of the dangerous mindset that continues to exist around deaths associated with the drug war. Some people might easily judge: โ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ข ๐ฏ๐ข๐ฎ๐ข๐ฏ ๐ฎ๐ข๐บ ๐จ๐ช๐ฏ๐ข๐ธ๐ข,โ or โ๐๐ถ๐ฏ๐จ ๐ธ๐ข๐ญ๐ข ๐ด๐ช๐บ๐ข๐ฏ๐จ ๐ฌ๐ข๐ด๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ฏ, ๐ฃ๐ข๐ฌ๐ช๐ต ๐ด๐ช๐บ๐ข ๐ฑ๐ช๐ฏ๐ข๐ต๐ข๐บ?โ But people are missing the point. No matter what a person is accused of, ๐๐๐๐ฉ๐ ๐จ๐๐ค๐ช๐ก๐ ๐ฃ๐๐ซ๐๐ง ๐๐ช๐ฉ๐ค๐ข๐๐ฉ๐๐๐๐ก๐ก๐ฎ ๐๐ ๐ฉ๐ง๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐จ ๐ ๐๐๐จ๐๐ง๐ซ๐๐ ๐ฅ๐ช๐ฃ๐๐จ๐๐ข๐๐ฃ๐ฉ. Allegations are not convictions. Suspicion is not proof. And even those who have committed crimes remain human beings with rights. When we react to someoneโs death with mockery or treat it as entertainment simply because we associate them with drugs, we are not discussing justiceโwe are deciding, on our own, whose life is worthy of sympathy and whose death is easy to ignore.
This is not about blindly defending every person involved in a drug-related case. Perhaps that is what we continue to miss whenever we react carelessly to stories of death. Behind every name is a family. Behind every headline is someone who was loved. And behind every case is a question that should never be drowned out by insensitive jokes and prejudiced comments.
We can disagree about policies. And we can demand accountability from those who commit crimes.
