๐กA Child-Friendly Safe School Program
At ๐๐๐ด๐๐๐ 5, 2026 the SSLG Officers, together with Campus Journalists, and SPTA Officers attended the ALERT Program brought together our local leaders, PNP, and school officials to ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ด๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐ณ๐ฒ๐๐ ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ๐ป๐๐๐ฒ๐น๐ฎ'๐ ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ผ๐ผ๐น๐ ๐ณ๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐น ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐บ๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐น ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ผ ๐๐๐ง๐ฉ ๐๐ฝ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ถ๐น๐น๐. Because our children's safety is a responsibility we all share.
The Ligtas na Mag-aaral sa Ligtas na Paaralan Program, a child-friendly safe schools initiative, was held at the ALERT Center Multi-Purpose Hall, where it was reported that 23 out of 97 schools have already been inspected by the VCPS. ๐๐ถ๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ 1 ๐๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฐ๐ถ๐น๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ต๐ผ๐ด๐ผ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ผ ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ opened with a speech centered on a young character who chooses to follow the law rather than join gangs just to feel accepted, driving home the value of making the right choices even under peer pressure.
๐ฆ๐ฐ๐ต๐ผ๐ผ๐น๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฆ๐๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐, Mr. ๐ก๐ผ๐ฒ๐น ๐๐ฎ๐ด๐ฎ๐ป๐ผ followed, emphasizing that the SDO's role goes beyond academics and extends to safeguarding the future of the youth; he also addressed the sobering reality of school-related tragedies such as shootings and stabbings, while reassuring attendees that teachers, parents, barangay officials, and police are united in keeping schools safe.
๐ฃ๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ต ๐ง๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ผ, ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฒ๐ณ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ๐ป๐๐๐ฒ๐น๐ฎ ๐๐ถ๐๐ ๐ฃ๐ผ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ, then discussed specific threats facing schools nationwide, citing active shooting incidents involving illegal fi****ms in Tacloban City and stabbing incidents in Cavite, Negros Occidental, Iloilo, and Las Piรฑas. He stressed the importance of preparedness and institutional drills, noting that "preparedness saves lives," and outlined a whole-of-nation approach, including proposed School Safety Acts pushed by senators to mandate surveillance, guidance counseling, and stronger mental health interventions. He also walked through proper protocol during a school shooting locking doors and windows, staying silent, calling 911, and allowing SWAT teams to clear rooms and apprehend perpetrators while touching on the role of technology in solving cases and the importance of "responsible posting" as netizens.
Finally, ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ช๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐น๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป presented the city's concrete safety measures under the program, including additional security guards and watchmen with proper training, the deployment of metal detectors at schools, and upgraded CCTV systems explaining that the initiative exists so that parents and guardians can feel confident leaving their children in school, their "second home." He closed by reminding everyone that the safety of our children is a responsibility we all share.
