Every day, your child dedicates just 20-30 minutes to engaging with their worksheets. This time isn’t just about completing tasks; it’s about building a strong foundation that supports lifelong learning.

🌿 August Theme: Gratitude

Life isn't always easy.

Every day, we hear news that can make us worry about the future. But gratitude reminds us to pause and notice the blessings we often overlook.

A new day. A meal on the table. A family to come home to. Children who have the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream.

Every day, we welcome students into our Kumon Center. Behind each child is a parent who continues to invest in their future because they believe their child is capable of achieving more.

That is something to be grateful for.

This August, our Daily Mindset Mastery series is all about Gratitude. Together, let's take a few moments each day to appreciate the blessings around us and discover that what we have today may already be more than enough.

“From Resistance to Routine: Her Kumon Reading Journey”

Frances Alexa A. Calabucal did not begin her Kumon Reading journey with enthusiasm or willingness.

“I told my mother it was against my will and that I never wanted to be enrolled in Kumon.”

At the start, learning felt more like comparison than personal growth.
“I was focused on competing with other students and comparing my progress to theirs.”

But over time, her perspective began to shift.
“I realized that Kumon is not about competing with other students but about improving yourself a little each day.”

Even with that realization, consistency was something she had to work through step by step.
“Sometimes I would just write random answers on my worksheet.”

She later understood what that was doing to her progress.
“Guessing wouldn’t help me improve or reach higher levels.”

So she slowly adjusted her approach, learning to be more intentional and responsible with her work.
“I became more responsible and patient when completing each worksheet.”

What makes her journey meaningful is not sudden transformation, but gradual awareness of her own learning habits.
“I learned that progress takes time, even if it’s not visible right away.”

That growth carried into her school life, where she became more confident in expressing ideas and less afraid of mistakes.
“I became less afraid of making mistakes and more willing to share my opinions and ideas.”

Behind this development was steady guidance and support from her Kumon instructors who stayed consistent throughout her journey.
“They never gave up on me and always helped me stay focused.”

When she reflects on her Kumon Reading experience, she describes it in three words:
Love. Challenging. Worthy.

Love, because she eventually learned to appreciate reading and learning.
Challenging, because discipline did not come easily at the start.
Worthy, because every step she stayed became meaningful in the end.

We proudly celebrate Frances Alexa A. Calabucal, our Kumon Reading Program Completer. Her journey shows that growth does not always begin with willingness, but it can still lead to transformation when a student chooses to stay and continue.
