"Hacienda Marilao" was a captivating new production by the SLCV Theatre and Ensemble Club, bringing to life the moving tale of land disputes in their original play. Set in rural Philippines, the narrative explored the themes of trust, romance, betrayal, and resilience, echoing the ongoing struggles between the oppressed and their oppressors.
Audiences were taken on an emotional rollercoaster ๐ข as the play "Hacienda Marilao" unfolded, engaging them in the highs and lows of a hardworking farmer family's journey against the Lazaros. From moments of ๐ฌ๐ช๐ญ๐ช๐จ between the love interests to the gut-wrenching realization of betrayal, this production delivered a theatrical experience that left the viewers questioning, empathizing, and reflecting on the realities many face.
With a gripping storyline, striking performances, and a powerful message, the stage came alive with the struggle between truth and deception, resilience and defeat. Did justice succeed or the weight of greed and corruption silenced the voices of the oppressed? That was the question that lingered long after the final scene.
Above all, letโs take a moment to appreciate the actors who poured their hearts into every scene. They didnโt just play their rolesโthey became them. Their emotions felt raw, their struggles felt real, and their passion made every moment on stage come alive. โจ๏ธ
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the hardworking crew behind the scenes. Directed by Juan Rafael Antonio Roxas, the play was expertly guided under his vision. Ms. Mary Ann Roberto, the moderator of SLCV Theatre and Ensemble club, played a major role in supporting the team, while Ms. Johayra Mae C. Gregorio kept the event engaging as the evening's emcee. Their combined efforts along with the dedication of other staff members made this performance truly unforgettable.
As the lights dimmed, one thing is certainโthis was more than just a performance. It was a story that needed to be told. This play served as a powerful reminder of the real-life struggles of our farmers, challenging audiences to see, feel, and understand the fight for justice and dignity.
