BREAKTHROUGH
CNHS Studes Bag 2nd Place in AGHAMazing

Mekyla Joy D. Gaviola, Fritzie Kyle M. Solar and Jahyrell R. Doncillo from Catumbalon National High School (CNHS) won 2nd Place in the AGHAMazing category of the Division Festival of Talents (DFOT) 2025, showcasing excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) last October 16, 2025.

AGHAMazing, a subcategory of STEMazing, involves the on-the-spot development of a research proposal that challenges learners to apply scientific and mathematical thinking to solve problems with local, national, or global impact. Participants present both oral and written proposed solutions to a given scenario, highlighting their ability to apply STEM and 21st-century skills in addressing real-world issues.

Competing against 10 schools from both public and private institutions in Valencia City, the CNHS team demonstrated creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, proving that CNHS students can compete and excel alongside top-performing schools in the division.

According to Hananena B. De Los Santos, research coordinator and coach, the team’s victory shows the students’ strong problem-solving skills and the school’s commitment to nurturing research excellence.

“This win shows that CNHS students are capable of producing innovative ideas and competing with confidence,” she said.

The team’s achievement serves as an inspiration for other learners to pursue excellence in science and research—proving that CNHS students are ready to take on greater challenges beyond the classroom.
