LOOK | The Faculty of GCHS, Inc. participated in the yearly three-day retreat held from January 8–10, 2024, at the Missionary Congregation of Mary (MCM) Central House, Impalambong, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
During the 3-day Teachers Spirit Retreat, we had the privilege of reflecting on the concept of synodality as emphasized by Pope Francis. Synodality, according to the Holy Father, is not just a mere gathering or meeting, but an ecclesial assembly guided by the Holy Spirit.
One of the key aspects highlighted during the retreat was the importance of silence and listening. Pope Francis emphasized that in order for synodality to truly flourish, we must create an environment of silence where we can attentively listen to the voice of the Spirit. This involves setting aside our own agendas and opening ourselves to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The Pope also emphasized the need for participation and communion in synodality. He encouraged us to actively engage in the life of the Church, recognizing that each member has a unique role to play. By fostering a sense of unity and collaboration, we can work together towards the mission of the Church.
Throughout the retreat, we discussed the opportunities and challenges that synodality presents. Pope Francis reminded us that synodality is not about seeking a majority opinion or implementing a specific plan, but rather adopting a style of listening to the Spirit through the Word of God, prayer, and adoration. It is about allowing the Spirit to guide us in our discernment and decision-making processes.
To our Retreat Master, Fr. Dupy Jr SirRod,
Thank you for creating a safe and nurturing space for us to explore and deepen our faith. Your thoughtful facilitation allowed us to reflect, learn, and grow in ways we never imagined. Your words of wisdom and the activities you led were truly impactful and inspiring.
To the MCM Central House,
We wanted to extend our deepest gratitude for the warm hospitality and exceptional care you provided during our teachers' spiritual retreat. The accommodation was comfortable, and the meals were not only delicious but also nourishing for both body and soul.
Your dedication to creating a peaceful and welcoming environment truly made our retreat experience all the more meaningful. From the moment we arrived, we felt embraced by your kindness and generosity. The serene atmosphere of the house allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in prayer, reflection, and fellowship.
Furthermore, We would also like to express our appreciation for the logistical arrangements made by the school administration headed by Sr. Teresita S. Sajelan, MCM our School Directress and Mr. Wilfred B. Valdesco, LPT., our Teacher-In-Charge, from securing the venue to coordinating schedules, your attention to detail ensured a smooth and seamless retreat experience. Your support behind the scenes did not go unnoticed and contributed greatly to the success of the event.
