Our farewell party for the students from Geumsan Gandhi School was a night filled with laughter, memories, and heavy hearts. What started as a simple homestay program in Brgy. Masaplod Sur, Dauin, Negros Oriental turned into genuine friendships and family-like bonds.

As the night came to an end, emotions filled the room as our students and homestay families shared hugs, tears, and final moments together. Saying goodbye was not easy after spending such meaningful days together.

Thank you, Geumsan Gandhi School students, for the beautiful memories and for allowing us to share our homes and hearts with you. You will always have a family here in Masaplod Sur. 🌴

Throughout their homestay program, they were able to build meaningful connections with their host families, cook Filipino dishes, and even sing Filipino songs. One of their missions during the homestay was a community outreach project, where they helped install toilets in ten selected households.

This video is a compilation of their memorable homestay activities, showcasing their experiences, learnings, and the bonds they created along the way.

A heartfelt thank you to the homestay parents, Filipino teachers and Korean teachers for your support and for sharing these wonderful photos and memories. Please take a moment to watch and enjoy their incredible homestay journey. 🌸

As part of their Philippine Gandhi Program, they have a major activity in which they will experience Filipino family life and livelihood through a cultural immersion called the "HOMESTAY PROGRAM". They will stay with Filipino host families for nine days, living within their households and experiencing their daily way of life. Through this program, they can have a meaningful journey of cultural exchange, new friendships, and unforgettable memories.

Prior to the homestay, the students prepared dance performances and had the opportunity to meet their homestay parents for the first time. They were warmly welcomed by their host families. Wishing our students a wonderful and enriching homestay experience. 🌸

An evening outside the classroom, shared by Filipino and Korean teachers, turned into something truly meaningful. Over dinner, we found more than just good food, we discovered deeper connections, shared laughter, and stories that brought us closer together. 🫶

Teaching may come with its challenges, but moments like these reminds us why we chose this path. Our dedication as educators goes beyond lessons and classrooms, it lives in the relationships we build with each other and with our students.

Different cultures, one passion. Stronger friendships, greater purpose 🤝

선생님들 감사합니다 (seonsaengnim-deul gamsahamnida) ☺️

As part of our Philippine Culture class, the students went on a mini food adventure and tried some iconic Filipino snacks which are taho, balut, and sorbetes!

The warm and sweet taho was a hit for most (though a few said, “Ssaem (teacher), it’s too sweet!”, but hey, at least they gave it a try!

Next up: balut… the ultimate challenge 😳 Surprisingly, some students were brave enough to eat more than one, while others just stared at it like “Nope, not today!” because of how it looked 😅

For sorbetes, our suki vendor wasn’t around, so we went for a modern version instead, but same vibes, same ingredients! They still loved the creamy texture and were super impressed!

Overall, it was a fun way to introduce Filipino snacks to the students. More fun Philippine Culture class moments coming soon, so stay tuned! 🌸

Mr. Nicky Dumapit also known as 'Kuya' (Big Brother) is an artist, musician, eco-warrior, radio host and tour guide born and based in Dumaguete City, Philippines. 🫶

Mr. Nicky Dumapit continues to inspire as a true eco warrior, promoting creativity through recycled materials and the beauty of bamboo made instruments. He shares not just music but also the value of protecting and caring for the environment, reminding everyone how closely nature and art are connected.

He introduced the 18th batch of students from Geumsan to the world famous ligiron, and amazed them by demonstrating bamboo instruments that can mimic the sounds of nature like rain and thunder, as well as animals such as geckos, birds, and frogs. It was a meaningful experience that brought together culture, creativity, and environmental awareness in a way they will surely remember. 😊🤝

Building up the hype for the 18th Batch during our school visit to Brgy. Masaplod Sur 🇰🇷🇵🇭

Our students have been working so hard to give back and the results are already looking great. They have stayed busy repainting classrooms, refreshing the garden area, and making sure the tables are all set for the local students to use. They even moved on to the walls of the Brgy. Hall to keep that momentum going for the rest of the trip.

Honestly, the best part so far has been watching them play games and really bond with the local kids. It is so nice to see these friendships starting before the main event even begins. Seeing everyone work together and share a laugh really sets the vibe for everything else we have planned. Everything is falling into place for the upcoming homestay and we are so proud of the effort they are putting in.

And we are just getting started!🌴
