The Pangasinan State University (PSU) Urdaneta City Campus, through the College of Computing, proudly congratulates Mr. Joshua C. Reyes, Head of Multimedia and a faculty member of the BS Information Technology (BSIT) Program, for the successful defense of his Master in Information Technology (MIT) capstone project proposal held on July 7, 2026, at the CCS Accreditation Room at Tarlac State University.

Mr. Reyes successfully presented his research entitled "Development of a Mobile Decision Support System for Labor Migration using Multi-Criteria Risk Assessment and Hybrid Recommendation with Analytics Dashboard." The proposed study addresses one of today's pressing social and technological challenges by leveraging data analytics, intelligent recommendation techniques, and mobile computing to support informed labor migration decisions.

The capstone project aims to develop a comprehensive decision support system that integrates multi-criteria risk assessment, hybrid recommendation algorithms, and an interactive analytics dashboard. Through this innovative approach, the system seeks to assist prospective overseas workers, government agencies, and policymakers in evaluating migration opportunities while considering employment conditions, destination risks, economic indicators, and other relevant decision factors.

The successful proposal defense reflects Mr. Reyes' commitment to advancing research that harnesses emerging technologies to solve real-world problems. His work exemplifies the BSIT Program's vision of producing research-driven innovations that contribute to national development and digital transformation.

Faculty members from the BS Information Technology (BSIT) Program of Pangasinan State University โ€“ Urdaneta City Campus participated in the 16th Anniversary Celebration of the Department of Science and Technology โ€“ Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) on June 29, 2026, at Fairmont Makati.

Representing the College of Computing were Dr. Christine Lourrine T. Serafica, Dean of the College of Computing, Leo Gabriel V. Villanueva, Michael E. Acosta and Paul Andrew V. Roa with Dr. Jennifer M. Parrone, Project Leader of the Smart Tourism project and Chenna Anne Landingin, Accountant. Their participation was made possible through an invitation from DOST-PCIEERD in recognition of the university's active involvement in the Smart Tourism Enhancement Project, a DOST-funded initiative that leverages emerging technologies to improve tourism management, visitor experience, and data-driven decision-making.

The event brought together government officials, researchers, innovators, industry leaders, and academic institutions to celebrate sixteen years of advancing research, innovation, and technology development in the Philippines. The program featured keynote addresses and plenary sessions on Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Industry 4.0, and Synthetic Biology, highlighting the transformative role of emerging technologies in shaping the nation's future.

The participation of the PSU BSIT delegation provided valuable opportunities to gain insights into cutting-edge technologies, establish research and innovation networks, and explore potential collaborations with experts from government, industry, and academia.
