Consultative Meeting Addresses Alternative Learning System Learners' Work Immersion Concerns
Urdaneta City, February 8, 2024
In a bid to address the pressing issues surrounding the work immersion program for Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners, a consultative meeting was convened at the CID Conference Hall today. The gathering, spearheaded by esteemed educators Sir Jonald Valena and Ma'am Lyra June Mata, both Master Teachers at Urdaneta City National High School, aimed to provide a platform for ALS learners to voice their concerns regarding schedule arrangements and other challenges to be encountered during their work immersion.
The meeting opened with an acknowledgment of the importance of work immersion in bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world application for ALS learners. However, it soon became evident that several hurdles hindered the smooth ex*****on of this crucial aspect of their educational journey.
ALS learners, representing diverse backgrounds and experiences, shared their struggles with balancing work immersion commitments alongside personal responsibilities and academic pursuits. Many highlighted the lack of flexibility in scheduling arrangements, which often clashed with their work or familial obligations.
Sir Jonald Valena, emphasizing the significance of tailored support for ALS learners, stated, "Understanding the unique circumstances of each learner is paramount in ensuring their success during the work immersion phase. Flexibility in scheduling and proactive collaboration between educational institutions and host companies are essential elements in addressing these challenges."
Ma'am Lyra June Mata echoed this sentiment, underscoring the importance of creating a conducive environment that promotes both academic and personal development. "Our goal is not only to facilitate professional growth but also to empower ALS learners to navigate the complexities of the modern workforce with confidence," she remarked.
In response to the raised concerns, the educators pledged to work closely with stakeholders to explore viable solutions. Proposed measure includes the implementation of flexible scheduling options.
The consultative meeting concluded with a commitment to fostering an inclusive, flexible and supportive learning ecosystem that prioritizes the needs of ALS learners.
For ALS learners, whose resilience and determination continue to inspire, the consultative meeting served as a beacon of hope, signaling a collective effort to champion their rights and aspirations in the pursuit of lifelong learning and personal growth.
