As part of the continuous implementation of the ๐–๐š๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž ๐‡๐ž๐ซ๐จ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐ž๐œ๐ญ, SaTaLa, in partnership with the ๐ƒ๐ž๐ฉ๐„๐ ๐“๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐š๐ฒ ๐’๐ฎ๐›-๐Ž๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ข๐œ๐ž, conducted the ๐๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐š๐ง๐ ๐•๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐Œ๐จ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐“๐จ๐จ๐ฅ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐Š๐ž๐ฒ ๐’๐ญ๐š๐ ๐ž๐ฌ 1-4

The activity aimed to present, review, and validate the monitoring tool that will be utilized in assessing the implementation and progress of the Waste Hero Project across participating schools. Through collaborative discussions and constructive feedback from Sagip Taal Lake Movement Board of Trustees, Local Government Representatives, PSDS, members of the monitoring team and other stakeholders recommendations were gathered to further enhance the tool's effectiveness, reliability, and alignment with the project's objectives.

This undertaking highlights the commitment of SaTaLa and the DepEd Talisay Sub-Office to strengthening environmental education and promoting sustainable waste management practices among learners. The validated monitoring tool will serve as a guide in ensuring the consistent and effective implementation of the Waste Hero Project in support of developing environmentally responsible schools and communities.

The monitoring tool for Waste Hero Projects was successfully crafted through the guidance of the Talisay SHS School Heads.

Last July 13, the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization awarded the Waste Hero for the months of June and July 2026.

This activity is in accordance with DepEd Order No. 5, s. 2014 and Republic Act No. 9003, also known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, promoting environmental awareness and proper solid waste management in all schools.

Therefore, we hereby congratulate the top 6 sections that were recognized as the waste hero for the months of June and July for their active participation in proper waste segregation and Waste Hero Program initiated by the Sagip Taal Lake (SaTaLa) Movement.

This was all done through the process of regular monitoring and evaluation by the YES-O Officers and Representatives using a checklist as a guide to check on each sections proper practice of waste management and waste segregation.

๐ŸŒฟ The "๐—ช๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฒ ๐—›๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ผ ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—บ" is a global campaign and brought by the Sagip Taal Lake (SaTaLa) Movement in partnership with DepEd Talisay Sub-Office with the support of the Local Government Unit of Talisay. It's initiative is to empower every student to become an advocate of environmental responsibility through proper waste segregation, recycling, and sustainable practices.

The program began with an opening prayer, followed by inspiring messages from the school heads and invited guests encouraging everyone to support the program's mission. It also featured the presentation of the "๐—ช๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฒ ๐—›๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ผ ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ท๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜" with its inspiring tagline:

Talisay Senior High School's school heads and student leaders together with their advisers of the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) and Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) attended the monthly meeting of SaTaLa Movement (Sagip Taal Lake) this June 27, 2026 that was held in Club Balai Isabel.

The meeting commenced with a simple ice breaker and a prayer. The agenda are Waste Hero Projects with its tagline "Waste Hero Reduce to Zero". This initiative collaborates with the Department of Education which consists of five levels. The schools from elementary to Junior High School will conduct different activities and contests aligned to waste management and environmental conservation and protection. The waste segregation among schools will be intensified through the Waste Hero Project.

๐‹๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐Ÿ (๐Š๐ข๐ง๐๐ž๐ซ ๐ญ๐จ G๐ซ๐š๐๐ž ๐Ÿ”) : An activity called "Plant in a Bottle, Bloom in a Bottle", with the initiative to teach young kids to plant using recyclable materials, such as plastic bottles.

๐‹๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ ๐Ÿ‘ (๐ ๐ซ๐š๐๐ž๐ฌ ๐Ÿ• ๐š๐ง๐ ๐Ÿ–) : A Tree Planting Activity for students to collectively 'Adopt a Lagnas', an environmental initiative to be headed by Balas Buco Santa Maria National High School (BBSMNHS) to utilize stagnant area through planting trees and flowering plants. Also, they proposed Science Camp to empower student leaders how to effectively become warriors of our environment.

๐‹๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ ๐Ÿ’ ( ๐†๐ซ๐š๐๐ž๐ฌ ๐Ÿ—-๐Ÿ0) : The students will create a Science Investigatory Project (SIP) aligning to waste management or segregation and other concerns pertaining to circular economy and sustainable development up to 2030. The SIP covers the Project Proposal Making Contest by September and in December will be the submission of SIP full paper including its innovation or prototype. SaTaLa will be our primary sponsor for the said contest.

While ๐’๐ž๐ง๐ข๐จ๐ซ ๐‡๐ข๐ ๐ก ๐’๐œ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ students, together with the ๐“๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐š๐ฒ ๐‚๐š๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ญ๐ž๐œ๐ก๐ง๐ข๐œ ๐”๐ง๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ฌ will be tasked as the monitoring team of the Waste Hero Projects. When these projects materialized or implemented, the Talisay Senior High school (TSHS) will then create a Case Study including Private Senior High Schools, which is a competition as well.

This June 23, 2026, the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization of Talisay Senior Highschool (TSHS) has attached new trashbin labels in every classroom set of trashbins for proper organization of waste (Plastic, Plastic bottles, and papers).

Therefore, participation starts with following the practice of waste management through the given labels per trashbinsโ€”separating solid wastes such as; plastics, plastic bottles, and papers, for proper management of waste. This kind of activity will be more senseful through the support of the whole school community.

This action is in accordance with the DepEd Order No. 5, s. 2014 and Republic Act No. 9003 (The Philippines Ecological Solid Waste Management Act)

These rules promote Mandatory Segregation of Wastes and utilization of Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) for plastic bottles. These are one of the fundamental pillars of effective waste managementโ€”through trash segregation from the point of origin (classeooms). This environmental initiative helps to decrease the amount of plastic wastes, safeguard public health, and unlock the economic values that may be gained from discarded materials.
