Bar Ops Team assists 17 aspiring CSU lawyers.
The College of Law of Cagayan State University recently conducted its annual Bar Operations at the University of Sto. Tomas to assist its bar candidates during the four long and arduous Sundays of October 2012.
With a national total of 5,656 bar candidates admitted by the Supreme Court to take the 2012 Bar examinations, the Bar Ops team of CSU assisted 17 of its examinees; providing them food and hotel accommodation, shuttle service, and last-minute review materials.
..
Jemar Apada, Bar operations chairman for 2012, remarked, “This is the best way for us to show our support to our barristers. It is very difficult to pass the Bar exam, let alone finish the four Sundays. We are here to make them feel that people are behind them in this ordeal. It is our mission to assure them that they have nothing to think of but their examination and that everything else is on us.”
When asked whether the bar operations was helpful to the examinees , Edwin Pagayatan, a 2012 bar examinee, said, “Even if it is impossible not to worry, they (the Bar operations team) made sure that we are comfortable and at ease during the four Sundays. There is no better way to be supported other than through the efforts of your own school.”
The funding of the operations was made possible through the assistance of the Central Administration of CSU, which likewise provided the transportation facilities, the College of Law of CSU led by its Dean, Atty. Placido Sabban, and the members of the Bar operations committee.
This year’s bar examination consists of two exams of the eight Bar examination subjects per Sunday [first day (October 7): Political Law (morning) and Labor and Social Legislation (afternoon); second day (October 14): Civil Law (morning) and Taxation (afternoon); third day (October 21): Mercantile Law (morning) and Criminal Law (afternoon); fourth day (October 28): Remedial Law (morning) and Legal Ethics and Practical Exercises (afternoon)].
As expressed in the Rules of Court, “a candidate (for admission to the Bar) may be deemed to have passed his examinations successfully, he must have obtained a general average of 75 per cent”.
