As part of the culmination of this year's Nutrition Month Celebration, the Youth for Environment in Schools-Organization (YES-O) of Linao National High School participated in the Native Delicacies (Kakanin) Table Display Contest hosted by the TLE Department on July 30, 2026.
The activity aimed to promote local kakanin and encourage students to appreciate Filipino food traditions, healthy eating habits, and the use of locally available ingredients.
Guided by this year's theme, "Sa PPAN: Sama-Sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat! Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!", various student clubs and organizations showcased creatively designed kakanin displays that highlighted the importance of supporting local farmers, preserving cultural heritage, and making food choices that benefit both people and the environment.
YES-O's entry, dubbed "๐๐จ๐๐ข๐๐๐๐ค๐๐ง๐ข๐ง," featured an array of native delicacies inspired by the twelve zodiac signs. Each horoscope was paired with a corresponding kakanin and an accompanying health tip, creating a fun and educational experience for visitors. Adding a unique and interactive touch, judges and students were invited to pick a horoscope from a bowl, discover which kakanin matched their zodiac sign, and read the nutrition-related tip assigned to it.
In line with the 52nd Nutrition Month Celebration's sub-theme, "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!", the organization incorporated environmentally friendly materials into its display. Banana leaves and anahaw leaves were used as decorative elements and serving plates, reducing the need for single-use plastics while showcasing Filipino culture and heritage.
At the conclusion of the competition, the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) emerged as the Champion, while the Creative Crafters Club (CCC) secured Second Place and the Indak Club earned Third Place. The winning organizations received gift packs and Certificates of Recognition for their outstanding presentations and creativity.
Through their innovative and eco-friendly displays, all participating organizations successfully promoted nutrition awareness, cultural appreciation, and environmental stewardship, demonstrating that healthy and sustainable choices can go hand in hand.
