The Cagayan State University- Carig, recorded a 56.25% passing rate in the September 2026 Registered Electrical Engineers Licensure Examination, surpassing the national passing rate of 49.34%.

The College also recorded a 66.67% passing rate among first-time examinees.

Congratulations to the successful examinees and to the faculty and staff of the CSU-COEA particulary to the Electrical Engineering Department, under the leadership of Engr. Ian C. Pagulayan, Department Chair, and Engr. John Michael B. Casibang, Dean.

The College also acknowledges the continued support of the University administration.

COEA Days 2026 Opens with “Roots of Innovation” Tree-Planting Initiative

The College of Engineering and Architecture (COEA) of CSU-Carig officially opened COEA Days 2026 through “Roots of Innovation: Engineering a Sustainable Future,” a tree-planting and stewardship initiative held on September 14, 2026, at the COEA Area.

‎Engr. Oliver J. Doctolero, Assistant to the Dean and Program Chair of the Geodetic Engineering Department, delivered the welcome remarks.

‎This was followed by an inspirational message from Engr. John Michael B. Casibang, University Dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture, who emphasized the role of engineering and architecture in developing sustainable solutions, promoting responsible resource management, and addressing environmental challenges through innovation and professional responsibility.

The activity was conducted in collaboration with the National Greening Program (NGP) Office of CSU-Carig and the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Sub-Office. A total of 100 seedlings, consisting of 50 cacao and 50 tamarind seedlings, were planted during the activity.

The tree-planting activity served as the initial phase of the project. Monitoring and stewardship activities will continue for at least six months to support the growth and survival of the planted seedlings.

Through the initiative, COEA highlighted the role of engineering and architecture in advancing environmental sustainability through responsible resource management, sustainable solutions, and initiatives that contribute to improved environmental conditions and long-term community well-being.

Cagayan State University (CSU), through the College of Engineering and Architecture (COEA) and the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers CSU Student Chapter (IIEE CSUSC), together with the IIEE Cagayan Kalinga Apayao Batanes (IIEE CKAB) Chapter and IIEE Australia New Zealand (IIEE ANZ), held a Ceremonial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing on 29 August 2026 via Google Meet.

The Tenth City Council of Tuguegarao, led by City Vice Mayor Hon. Rosauro Rodrigo G. Resuello, passed and approved resolution titled “Resolution Commending Cagayan State University – Carig Campus for Being the Top 6 Performing School in the April 2026 Registered Electrical Engineers Licensure Examination (REELE).”

The resolution was formally awarded to Engr. Ian C. Pagulayan, Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department, together with Engr. John Michael B. Casibang, Dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture (COEA), during a ceremony held on August 25, 2026, at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall, Tuguegarao City Hall.

This recognition highlights the outstanding performance of CSU-Carig and the College of Engineering and Architecture in producing competent and globally competitive electrical engineering graduates.

Congratulations to the Electrical Engineering Department, its faculty members, graduates, and the entire CSU-Carig Campus community for this remarkable achievement!

COEA studes secure 2 major wins at ARAW 2026

Two student research teams from the College of Engineering and Architecture (COEA) of Cagayan State University- Carig (CSU) secured major wins at the 16th Annual Research Awards (ARAW) 2026 held on August 20 at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) students Arnold E. Paclarin Jr., Jonel Angelo D. Vendiola and Vinzel M. Tablac, advised by Engr. Ian C. Pagulayan, emerged as champions in the Poster Presentation competition for the research project, “MATA METER: Monitoring and Analysis of Transformer Acquired Parameters.”

Meanwhile, another BSEE team composed of Christian Jake P. Cabasag, Gani Luis B. Dacanay and Vince F. Sumagay, with their adviser, Engr. Michael B. Orpilla, placed first runner-up in the Commercialization Research category for the study, “Smart Agri-gate with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) for Irrigation Canal Operations.”

Both teams were coached by Engr. Ericson L. Visaya.

The CSU teams competed against research projects submitted by public and private higher education institutions from across the Philippines.

The ARAW, organized by PUP in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), recognizes outstanding student research, innovative technologies and commercially viable engineering solutions.

The awards highlight the research and innovation capabilities of CSU engineering students and their mentors in developing solutions responsive to practical and emerging challenges.
