📚 Empowering Future Nurses Through Excellence in Nursing Care Plan Writing.

Yesterday, July 25, 2026, marked another meaningful and enriching learning experience for our BSN Level II students as they participated in a specialized lecture-workshop on Nursing Care Plan (NCP) Writing —one of the most fundamental competencies in professional nursing.

Nursing Care Plan Writing is more than an academic requirement; it is the foundation of safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered nursing practice. Every assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation must be thoughtfully developed through sound clinical reasoning, critical thinking, and compassionate care. Mastery of this process prepares our students to deliver quality healthcare and uphold the highest standards of the nursing profession.

The CSU College of Nursing was deeply honored to welcome Mr. CJ Garo Uy, Rank 2 in the 2024 Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination (PNLE), as our distinguished guest lecturer. His remarkable achievement, coupled with his humility and passion for the profession, served as an inspiration to our students. The occasion was made even more special knowing that his parents are proud alumni and dedicated employees of Cagayan State University, reflecting a legacy of excellence and service.

Strengthening Global Partnerships for Research, Education, and HIV Advocacy

The College of Nursing, Cagayan State University – Carig Campus successfully hosted the seminar "Informed and Involved: Taking Action on HIV Awareness and Prevention," reaffirming its commitment to developing future nurses who are knowledgeable, compassionate, and responsive to today's public health challenges.

We were honored to welcome Mr. James Montegrico, PhD, RN, CMSRN, Professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, who shared valuable evidence-based insights on HIV prevention, testing, treatment, stigma reduction, and the role of healthcare professionals in advancing inclusive and compassionate care. His presentation on Project SHIP (School-based HIV Initiatives in the Philippines) further emphasized the importance of academic institutions in promoting HIV awareness and community engagement.

Beyond the exchange of knowledge, this activity marks the beginning of what we hope will be a meaningful and lasting academic partnership. The College of Nursing looks forward to collaborating with Dr. James Montegrico and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in future research, extension, and advocacy initiatives that will strengthen nursing education, advance evidence-based practice, and improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve.

Health Education and Compassionate Parenting: Building Stronger Families, Healthier Communities

The College of Nursing, in collaboration with the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM) of Cagayan State University, successfully conducted a community extension activity in Brgy. San Roque, Peñablanca, Cagayan through the EHE-MPLO (Environment, Health, Education–Managing People's Life Organization) Project with the theme, "Proper Hygiene and Child Care: Promoting Healthy Families and Safe Childhood."

The activity provided community members with valuable learning experiences through lectures and hands-on demonstrations on proper hygiene, including the correct handwashing technique, as well as discussions on basic child care practices. Interactive workshops further enhanced participants' understanding of healthy child care and practical approaches to common parenting situations, reflecting the University's commitment to health promotion and community empowerment.

As part of the activity, the College of Nursing also conducted a session for parents on Positive Parenting and Early Childhood Care, emphasizing the essential role of parents in raising children through love, guidance, positive discipline, and responsive caregiving. The discussion reinforced that nurturing strong families is fundamental to building healthier, safer, and more resilient communities.
