Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED)
After graduation, the BSED graduates will exhibit expertise in teaching their field of specialization, effectiveness in guiding learners in their life and career choices, competence in dealing with adolescent’s behaviour. Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED)
After graduation, the BEED graduates will exhibit competence in teaching all learning areas, excellence in performing varied academic and social roles and sincerity in manifesting love for children. Bachelor of Technical Teacher Education (BTTE)
After graduation, the BTTE graduates will exhibit expertise in teaching technical-vocational fields, competence in working in the industry as technologists, entrepreneurs and managers and excellence in demonstrating work ethics. History of the College of Education

The College of Education of the Cagayan State University vestige its footmark from an elementary grade school in 1907, to an established institution of higher learning in this part of the country. The signing of P.D 1436 in June 11, 1978 espoused the merging of two state colleges- the then Cagayan Valley College of Arts and Trades (CVCAT) of Tuguegarao and the Northern Luzon State College of Agriculture (NORLUSCA) in Piat which gave rise to the establishment of Cagayan State University. There were only three curricular programs then, the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education, the 3-year Technician program and the 2-year Technical Curriculum . In 1981, Dr. Manuel Corpuz, the pioneer president ensured the full implementation of the decree such as the creation of new colleges, opening of new courses and the re-aligning of the existing ones. This brought about the establishment of the College of Education through a board resolution with Prof. The only course offering then was Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education (BSIEd). The BSIEd program had the following major areas: Automotive Technology, Electrical Technology, Civil Technology, Electronics Technology, Furniture and Cabinet Technology, Garment Technology, Food Technology, Industrial Arts and Mathematics

The expansion of the teacher education program in Tuguegarao and in other campuses spawned the opening of the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) in school year 1986-1987 with areas of specialization in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. In 1988-1989, BSEd in English and Filipino were offered while Social Science, PEHM, THE and Mathematics were added to the list of specialization. In S.Y. 1992, the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) was also offered with concentration in Communication Arts, Filipino, Mathematics, General Science, Social Science and HELE. The first batch of BEED graduates hurdled a rating of 96% while the second batch of BEED graduates produced the number one (1) in the Licensure Examination for Teachers, regional level. The fast development of the college is evidenced by the series of accreditation visits by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (AACCUP). These visits commenced in 1994 in which the BSEd program underwent a preliminary surveyed and was awarded level II status in 1995. The pioneer program in the college, BSIEd, had undergone 1st level survey in 1997 and was awarded level II status in 1999. In the same year preliminary of the BEEd and the 1st re- survey visit of the BSEd program were undertaken simultaneously. Consequently, the BEEd program was awarded level II status in 2001 and the 1st re-survey visit in both BSIEd and the BEEd programs was undertaken in 2002. To date, the 2nd re- survey visits for third level accreditation is on line. The year 1996 has been a season of golden harvest for the college. In this year, CSU, particularly the college was one of the recipients of the Philippines-Australia Project in Basic Education (PROBE), having been selected as one of the 14 Focus Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) in the country after a thorough evaluation based on the selection criteria. Under the project, five (5) faculty members were trained for six months in Australia along Science, English, Mathematics in Pedagogy. In recognition of the successful implementation of PROBE project, the College Dean was a recipient of ten-day Study Tour for Educational Managers (STEM) in Brisbane, Australia in July 1998. In SY 1999-2000, AB-BSE/BS-BSE, a double degree program was opened. Only PROBE and accredited TEI’s are authorized to offer this new program called Curriculum Initiative for Teacher Education (CITE) hence, the college has piloted the program. In the same year, the college launched the Project Teacher Education Advancement Teaching Competencies towards higher Heights (TEACH) to address the demands for quality teacher education. In 2005, the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education Program (BSIEd) was phased down due to the marked decrease in the number of enrollees. In its relentless bid for excellence, the college was identified as teaching methodology and multi-disciplinary center for trainings for Region O2 by the Department of Education. This was another laurel reaped by the college. Some of the significant milestones in the annals of the college were-

• Service provider for third Elementary Education Project (TEEP) of Kalinga (CAR Region)
• Plaque of Appreciation as Lone Provider for the “Each One, Teach One Program” School Year 2012-2013
• Certificate of Appreciation for being a partner organization in conducting the 3rd Y-move: Youth Forum on Responsible Voting
• Dean Panfilo C. Canay was elected President of the Philippine Association for Teacher Education (PAFTE), Region 02
• College was identified center of training for Certificate Program for Technology & Livelihood Education
• Rudolf T. Vecaldo placed second in the 2008 Licensure Examination for Teachers, National Level
• Annaflora Lheonibel Abrogena placed Tenth in the 2013 Licensure Examination for Teachers, National Level
• Rochelle Acebedo and Arvee Bucarile placed tenth in the 2014 Licensure Examination for Teachers, National Level


Attuned to the aim of achieving relevance, the college opened the Bachelor in Technology Teacher Education (BTTE) degree for school year 2008-2009 with initial enrollees of 102. The fields of specialization include- Automotive Technology, Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Food and Service Management, Garments, Fashion and Design. As can be gleaned from this brief historical account, the college has chartered a name for itself through the syndicated efforts of the administration, faculty, staff and the students. Undoubtedly, the multifaceted programs of the college are expected to soar high.
