Luga NHS Conducts Mid-of-School-Year Assessment Through Project Digi-Test

September 24, 2026. Luga National High School conducted its Mid-of-School-Year (MoSY) Assessment through Project Digi-Test on September 23-24, 2026, with the participation of the school’s faculty and staff headed by Ma’am Mary Ann Madrid, School Principal IV. The assessment served as an interim evaluation to monitor learner progress, identify learning gaps, and provide data that can guide instructional adjustments.

The conduct of the assessment was also monitored by Public Schools District Supervisor Reynaldo Dilan Ronquillo, underscoring the importance of systematic assessment and monitoring in supporting learner achievement and school improvement.

As part of the assessment activities, the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI) was utilized to assess learners’ reading proficiency. The assessment results are expected to help teachers identify persistent learning gaps, validate or modify teaching strategies, and use evidence from learner performance in planning appropriate interventions.

Through Project Digi-Test initiated by the School Head Ma’am Mary Ann Madrid, the school also benefits from faster processing of assessment results, reducing the time needed for manual checking and consolidation. Its digital approach also promotes a more eco-friendly and cost-effective assessment process by reducing the need for printing, transporting, and storing large quantities of test booklets and answer sheets.

The conduct of the MoSY Assessment reflects Luga National High School’s commitment to data-driven instruction, targeted learner intervention, and continuous school improvement, while strengthening the use of assessment information to support the learning needs of every learner.

Luga NHS, 203rd Maneuver Company Coordinate on Motorcycle Safety Enforcement

September 22, 2026. Personnel of the 203rd Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 2 (RMFB2)- Magapit, Lallo based in Alucao conducted a coordination meeting with Luga National High School to discuss road safety and traffic enforcement concerns involving motorcycle riders, particularly students and parents traveling to and from the school without helmets, wearing sando, or using motorcycles with mufflers that are subject to enforcement.

During the meeting, PCPL Godfrey Ritarita, PAT Larry Alejo, and PAT Gerald Jay Sebastian coordinated with School Principal Ma’am Mary Ann C. Madrid, PhD regarding the planned implementation of traffic and safety enforcement measures around the school.

According to the 203rd Maneuver Company RMFB2, starting Monday, September 28, 2026, violators will be issued citations or tickets for applicable violations. Depending on the violation and applicable enforcement procedures, violators may also be required to render community service, such as cleaning. The announcement is intended to promote compliance with road-safety regulations and help protect students, parents, and other road users.

For the current week, the personnel will first provide verbal warnings and reminders to motorists found violating the identified safety requirements. The school encourages students, parents, and other members of the school community who use motorcycles to observe traffic and safety regulations, particularly the proper use of standard protective helmets. Philippine law requires motorcycle riders and back riders to wear standard protective motorcycle helmets while driving.

The coordination reflects the shared responsibility of the school and its law-enforcement partners in promoting a safe and orderly school environment. Luga National High School continues to value stakeholder cooperation in protecting learners and supporting continuous school improvement.

Luga NHS Strengthens Environmental Conservation and Bamboo-Based Learning Initiatives

September 2026. Luga National High School strengthened its environmental conservation and community partnership initiatives through its Monthly Tree Planting and Clean-Up Drive and participation in bamboo processing training in preparation for the implementation of its two banner programs, Project STAIRWAY TO WISDOM and Project KBP – Kawayan Basket Project: Luga NHS Basket of Hope. The activities brought together school stakeholders, community partners, student leaders, and teachers to promote environmental stewardship, sustainable resource utilization, and practical learning opportunities for learners.

The environmental activities involved the Bakong Weavers Association, headed by Sir Ernesto Belen Sr.; the Barangay Officials of Luga and Alucao, headed by Hon. Joedel Agbisit and Hon. Rodel Medrano, respectively; the School Parents-Teachers Association (SPTA) headed by Sir Emerson Aleste; student leaders; and members of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines. The monthly tree planting and clean-up drive aims to maintain a clean and safe school environment while helping sustain natural resources that can support the school’s environmental and bamboo-related initiatives.

As part of the preparation for Project KBP, Sir Jesurick Saycon and Ma’am Jenny Agbisit, Junior High School teachers, together with selected learners, participated in the Training on Engineered Bamboo Growers and Processors of Northeastern Cagayan (Level 1) conducted by Cagayan State University–Gonzaga Campus on September 2–3, 2026. The training provided participants with knowledge and skills related to bamboo production and processing, which may support the school’s efforts to promote sustainable bamboo utilization, practical skills development, and the preservation of local weaving practices.

The initiatives were advanced through the leadership of Ma’am Mary Ann C. Madrid, PhD, Principal IV and School Head, who also sought support from the Local Government Unit of Santa Teresita, through Atty. Rodrigo P. De Gracia, CESE, Municipal Mayor, and Cagayan State University–Gonzaga Campus. These partnerships provide opportunities for the school to strengthen its programs through community participation, technical support, and resource mobilization.

The activities support the School Head’s vision of developing Luga National High School into an Agri-Tourism School that makes responsible use of its natural and agricultural resources while providing meaningful learning and livelihood-related opportunities. Through Project KBP – Luga NHS Basket of Hope, the school promotes H.O.P.E.—Harnessing Resources, Opening Opportunities, Preserving Heritage, and Empowering Communities. In the long term, the school also aspires to pursue recognition as a School of Living Traditions (SLT) by providing opportunities for learners to appreciate and help sustain local arts, crafts, skills, and cultural traditions.

Luga National High School Welcomes Newly Installed Administrative Officer II

September 16, 2026. Luga National High School welcomed Ma’am Veronica Balanzat as its newly installed Administrative Officer II (AO II) during an installation activity held at the school. Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS) Reynaldo Dilan Ronquillo personally led the installation as part of the school’s continuing effort to strengthen its administrative workforce.

Prior to joining the Department of Education, Ma’am Balanzat served as the Human Resource Management Officer of the Local Government Unit of Santa Teresita. Her previous experience in human resource management brings relevant knowledge and skills that can support the administrative operations of Luga National High School.

Ma’am Mary Ann C. Madrid, PhD, Principal IV, warmly welcomed Ma’am Balanzat to the school community. She expressed her appreciation for the additional manpower, noting that the presence of a new Administrative Officer II will help further strengthen the school’s workforce and support its day-to-day administrative functions.

The installation marks an addition to the school’s personnel complement and provides Luga National High School with additional administrative support in carrying out its programs, services, and school operations.

Luga NHS Conducts 2026 In-Service Training through Project SIKAT

LUGA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL conducted its two-day In-Service Training (INSET) 2026 through Project SIKAT (Strengthening Instruction, Knowledge, and Action for Teachers) on September 10–11, 2026, as part of the school’s continuing efforts to strengthen teachers’ knowledge, skills, and instructional practices in response to curriculum changes and identified learning needs.

The activity was participated in by the Luga NHS teaching personnel, headed by Ma’am Mary Ann Madrid, Principal IV, and was implemented as an output-based training designed to translate professional learning into practical outputs that can support classroom instruction.

The training aimed to help teachers respond to changes in the curriculum, particularly by deepening their understanding of new competencies, learning standards, instructional approaches, and assessment requirements. It also addressed identified learning needs based on learner performance and school data, including areas such as literacy, numeracy, and reading comprehension.

The plenary session was conducted at Santa Teresita National High School, where teachers from both the secondary and elementary levels participated in the professional development activity.

On the second day of the training, Sir Reynaldo Dylan Ronquillo, Public Schools District Supervisor of Santa Teresita, together with Ma’am Ma. Victoria Quiambao, Education Program Supervisor in MAPEH, personally visited and monitored the implementation of the activity at Luga National High School.

During their visit, PSDS Ronquillo and EPS Quiambao also viewed the school’s MAPEH Learning Resource Center, which showcases various “kadaanan a gamit,” or tools and gadgets from the past, providing learners with opportunities to appreciate historical materials and their connection to learning.

In her message to the teachers, Ma’am Madrid encouraged them to put their learnings into practice and apply the knowledge and strategies gained from the training in their respective classrooms. She also reminded teachers to maximize the wellness break by spending meaningful time with their families.

The conduct of INSET reflects the Department of Education’s continuing commitment to the professional development of teachers and the improvement of learning outcomes. Through relevant training and collaborative learning opportunities, teachers are better equipped to respond to curriculum demands and provide appropriate support to learners.

Luga National High School Inducts SPTA, SGC, and Recognized Organizations; Mayor Rambo Reaffirms Support for Education

September 4, 2026. Luga National High School formally inducted its newly elected School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA), School Governance Council (SGC), and officers of recognized school organizations during the Mass Oath-Taking Ceremony and First General SPTA Assembly held at Luga National High School. The ceremony was officiated by Atty. Rodrigo P. De Gracia, CESE, Municipal Mayor of Santa Teresita, marking the beginning of another school year strengthened by shared responsibility and stakeholder partnership.

The activity was graced by key representatives from various sectors, including Sir Edison Belen, Municipal Private Secretary of the Office of the Mayor- SGC Co-chairperson Elect; Sir Emerson Aleste, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Officer and SPTA President; Hon. Rodel N. Medrano, Barangay Captain of Alucao; Hon. Joedel Agbisit, represented by Hon. Magnoly Samortin, Barangay Kagawad of Luga; Sir Erwin Belen, Agriculture Technologist and LGU Representative; Sir Ernesto Belen Sr., President of Bakong Weavers Association and NGO Representative; and Ma’am Lorna Tacas, Catechist of Saint Mary of the Angels Parish and Religious Sector Representative.

In his message, Atty. Rodrigo P. De Gracia, CESE emphasized that education is not the sole responsibility of schools and teachers but a shared responsibility of parents and the entire community. Citing the Chinese proverb, “It takes a village to educate a child,” he underscored the importance of collective action in nurturing learners. He also highlighted REGTA, one of his guiding mantras aimed at capacitating every Teresiano and improving their status in life, emphasizing that education remains a powerful tool for transforming individuals and communities. He further expressed his commitment to provide additional funding support for Luga National High School.

Meanwhile, Ma’am Ednalyn Padre, Teacher III, presented the school’s various Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) together with Ma’am Cristine Joy Patubo with her Project ATTEND, while Ma’am Mary Ann C. Madrid, PhD, Principal IV, expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the presence of Mayor De Gracia and his continuing moral and financial support for the school’s endeavors. The program also highlighted the strengthening of partnership among the school, parents, local government, community, private organizations, and other stakeholders.

A significant part of the gathering was the awarding of the Certificate of Recognition to the School Parent-Teacher Association, represented by its President, Sir Emerson Aleste, and presented by Ma’am Mary Ann Madrid together with Atty. Rodrigo P. De Gracia, CESE. The recognition, pursuant to DepEd Order No. 13, s. 2022, affirmed the SPTA as a duly constituted organization of parents and teachers upon submission of the prescribed requirements. In response, Sir Aleste pledged the SPTA’s continued support for the school’s PPAs and initiatives for the welfare of all learners.

The event also featured an Arnis Presentation by the learners, under the guidance of Sir Albert Rieta, School Sports Coordinator, showcasing the learners’ skills and participation in school sports activities.

Truly, the spirit of “Rang-ay, Regta ken Ragsak” continues to be felt at Luga National High School.

Luga NHS Undergoes On-Site Validation of National School Building Inventory

AUGUST 27, 2026. Luga National High School underwent an on-site validation of the National School Building Inventory conducted by Dr. Reynaldo Ronquillo, Public Schools District Supervisor of Santa Teresita District, to gather accurate, updated, and comprehensive information on the school's infrastructure and physical facilities.

Dr. Ronquillo was accompanied by Ma’am Mary Ann Madrid, Principal IV and School Head, together with Sir Prospero Pagela, Jr., School Property Custodian and Facility Coordinator, and Sir Jose Real, Faculty Club President, during the validation activity. The inventory covered essential data on school buildings, room conditions, temporary learning spaces, sanitation and water facilities, and usable furniture.

The data gathered through the activity will support educational leaders in planning infrastructure development, guiding budget allocation for repairs and new construction, and ensuring the appropriate distribution of classrooms and facilities based on school needs. Reliable and updated information also contributes to informed decision-making in creating safe and disaster-resilient learning environments.

During his visit, Dr. Ronquillo also monitored the readiness of Luga National High School as one of the billeting schools for participants in the upcoming 2026 Congressional District 1 Eliminations in Journalism.

Through accurate data collection, continuous monitoring, and collaboration among school stakeholders, Luga National High School remains committed to improving its physical learning environment and supporting quality education, learner development, and continuous school improvement.

Grade 10 Homeroom PTA Treasurer Donates 5 Lusob for Comfort Room Renovation

August 20, 2026. Mr. Aljay Napoli and Mrs. Precy Napoli, Grade 10 Homeroom PTA Treasurer, donated 5 “lusob” to support the renovation of the septic tank of the Grade 10 Comfort Room at Luga National High School.

The initiative stemmed from the concern raised by the Grade 10 Class Adviser, Sir Prospero Pagela, Jr., during the First Homeroom PTA Meeting regarding the condition of the classroom’s comfort room. In response, Mrs. Napoli pledged the donation to help address the identified need.

The contribution highlights the important role of Homeroom PTA Officers in supporting and helping implement school projects, programs, and activities. Through the active participation of parents and school stakeholders, identified school needs can be addressed through shared responsibility and partnership.

The donation is expected to contribute to the renovation of the septic tank and the provision of a more functional, comfortable, and genderized comfort room for Grade 10 learners. Ma’am Mary Ann Madrid and the school community appreciate the support extended by the Grade 10 Homeroom PTA.

This initiative reflects the continuing commitment of the school and its stakeholders to provide a safe, functional, and conducive learning environment for every learner.
